So, Who do we start?

Post#1 » by Hellcrooner » Fri Aug 5, 2016 3:47 pm

We have a lot of players who could start with different combinations.

For example we could go with Small Ball : Russell, Clarkson, Ingram, Deng, Randle
We could go with " tall ball" : Russell, INgram, Deng, Randle, MOzgov
We could go with balanced experience : Calderon, Clarkson(or russell), Deng, Randle(or Nance), Mozgov
We could go Full youngster: Russell, Clarkson,Ingran, Randle(or nance), ZUbac
We could go Full senile: Calderon, Lou, Swaggy , Deng, Mozgov.

lots of posibilitys.

Lou 15
Russell 5

Russ is a lock at 1, Clarkson at 2, Mozgov at 5... The rest will be interesting... I personally like Deng at the 4 (more efficient) therefore I would like to see the following:

PG: Russell (6'5")
SG: Clarkson (6'4")
SF: Ingram (6'9")
PF: Deng (6'9")
C: Mozgov (7'0")

I could see Deng at SF & Randle/Nance at PF but I hope Luke spreads the floor with Ingram... I prefer Nance over Randle... Lakeshow Baby...

Dont see that as a lock.
There are odds that if one of the two is not performing at the level that walton wants Calderon starts at Pg and one of them starts at Sg.

Given Russ numbers low assists numbers it woul actually make somes sense probably to start him at Sg and have Clarkson as the sixth man/scoring punch from the bench specially if Ingram starts at the SF and Deng at the Pf.

I think Russell will end up seeing a lot of minutes at shooting guard:

Clarkson or Calderon
Russell
Deng
Randle
Mozgov

Talking about how bad Julius Randle is:

No way Calderon starts over Russell. He shouldn't even log too many of the backup minutess, as Clarkson can split that with Huerta's and Lou.

I could see Caldron starting actually but more towards the end of the season if we're winning games because of the experience, but don't see him starting at the start of the season

Russell seems best as the lead guard, similar to the Harden Role. So, the best person to pair up with him would be a strong, athletic, fast capable shooter that defends well.

Randle will be Lakers starter for years to come.

I could see Luke bringing Ingram off the bench to start but kid will start by All Star Break... He is too good and needs minutes... Deng resurrected his career when moved to PF last season in Miami... Luke likes to run and play small ball... Deng will play allot of PF...

I see Zubac taking a lot of time away from Mozgov.

I would say DLo/JC/Deng/Randle/Mozgov.

Russell/Calderon
Clarkson/Williams
Deng/Ingram
Randle/Nance
Mozgov/Black

is the main rotation I reckon

Game 1:
Russell
JC
Deng
Randle or Nance
Moz

Where things get interesting is I would think most agree Deng is best suited as a 4. But so are Randle and Nance. I'd think we will want to move one of Randle or Nance at some point unless Zubac is not ready or Mozgov gets injured and one of Nance or Randle shows they can play the 5.

The Russell, Clarkson, Deng, Randle, Mozgov lineup that I'm almost sure will be the opening night starting lineup has such bad spacing that I can't see it working. The only above average 3 point shooter in it would be Russell. I like the Rusell, Clarkson, Ingram, Deng, Mozgov lineup a lot better

I prefer clarkson off the bench myself. The lineup you posted is the most potent but really limits our bench. Maybe the following:

Calderon
Russell
Ingram
Deng
Mosgov

Would work I don't know
