JC most probably will start and I think Lou will be his back up so I'm voting Calderon. Huertas 3rd string PG. I don't know who is Julian Jacobs and I doubt he makes the team before the season starts.

I think its close between Huertas and Calderon but I pick Huertas here. I think he will see a lot of action in line ups where Walton has D'Lo run around screens for open jumpers.

Huertas is the worst pg on defense in the league and Calderon is slightly above him. I wanna say we go with a three headed monster with D'angelo/clarkson/Lou, but none of those guys are gonna move the ball as quickly as Walton wants.

I'd wager Calderon gets consistent burn because he's going to force the squad on the floor to play with good habits. I can also see Ingram sliding down and taking some back up sg minutes if Lou's poor defensive play doesn't change.

I honestly can see everyone on our team getting minutes throughout the year though. The warriors played bogut, ezeli, speights, varejao, and Draymond all at the 5 position. Their guard rotation had Steph, Klay, barbosa, Livingston mainly playing but even Brandon Rush and Ian Clark playing over 1,600 minutes. I know they had a lot of blowouts and some injury, but that 1600 minutes adds up to almost 20mpg between those two guys over an 82 game season.

Huertas is the better player. You can't say Calderon better defender than anyone, and Huertas the better playmaker.

Calderon is the better shooter tho, and he will play some situational play

Huertas wasn't even the worst defensive PG On the Lakers. D'Lo and Clarkson were far worse by defensive RPM.

Really dude? sometimes fans get carried away with advanced stats.... That stat is the definition of SRS. Look at quality of opponent, garbage time, and really just player development and their learning curve.

I mean, Clarkson himself admitted to not caring on defense last year and neither him nor Russell even did enough to fight over screens, which Huertas did. Garbage time or not, Marcelo put in some effort at that end which was notably absent in the rest.

So on the topic of the thread, you think Huertas is a better defender than Dlo, Clarkson, and Calderon? So he's going to get the minutes this year due to his defense. Ok got it.

That's a weird way of looking at things because none of those guys are any good on defense. I do however think he is going to get more minutes than Calderon, which is why I voted for him in the poll.

Clarkson. You may see spot minutes with Calderon or Huertas, but it will be Russell and Clarkson handling the PG duties.

I'm guessing Calderon, only because of his shooting.

I think we'll see a variation of all these guys to start but we'll end up with Russ/Clarkson and to a much lesser extent Lou sharing most of the PG minutes with Calderon, and Huertas getting the garbage minuets.

Looks like Huertas is getting a ton of praise and expected to gain most of the back up PG minutes.

How are you defining PG? Scoresheet or position on the floor? Calderon and Huertas are true PG's and really only play that position. The balance of our guards are really combo players in a system like this. A better question is why have two true PG's backing up combo guards? Should be interesting to see how we run the second unit as it will have a different type of initiator in either Calderon or Huertas.
