Honestly, I'd like to say his full contract (5yrs, 4yrs guaranteed) plus some extra years, but because the NBA is such an up and down business and things can change at the drop of a hat (and for the sake of argument) I'll make random guess/prediction.

I'd say somewhere around 3 1/2 - 4 years. I think over the next 3-4 yrs the Lakers could be in position to contend for a playoff spot on a regular basis. At which point a team is either ready to make the jump to championship contention, or they're not able too (becoming a treadmill team) which could call for either a roster shakeup or a coaching change.

Like I said I'd like 5+ (and I do think it's possible depending on how well the team plays), but for the sake of argument my uneducated guess would be around 3 1/2 - 4 (I voted 4 for the sake of round numbers). That would be the 2020-2021 season.

He'll coach us for the next 30 years (hopefully with many rings!)

Eric Spoelstra is the highest tenured coach in the league after Pop and Carlisle, that tells you something. Coaching is the most volatile job in sports and anything can happen. Obviously I'd rather Walton be a huge success and stay for many years, but the odds are against him

3 seasons after which the Spurs poach him to replace a retiring Popovich

If a franchise ends up poaching the Lakers' own coach, LA will burn.

Missed voting, but I'm gonna go more than 6 years.

This is the new face of the NBA as far as a play style is concerned, and I don't see it changing for at least 8-10 years until dynamic players come along that change the way kids play.

The public and Lakers fans love him. He's a favourite to the president/owner of the organization. With Byron, although Laker fans liked him, they knew he was "old school" and that style of play had already changed when we brought him on board. So that won't happen with Luke.
