I'd say across the stat sheet will be Nance. If by specializing in one aspect, Randle on the glass.

Going with Brandon Ingram here. Great physical profile and his minutes might come in short bursts so he has more energy to spend on defense instead of looking for his offense.

I think Brandon Ingram is going to be a beast with his length. Going with him.

Would love it to be Russell, but I'm going with Randle. Nance will get the flashy blocks and may get a few more loose balls, but Randle is loose as hell going into this season... He knows who he is now and seemed to take pride in matching up against the best guys at Team USA... And he's going to need to play solid D if he wants to run the Offense in transition which seems to be a priority Walton has for him... So I think this is Randle's year to lock up guys.

I'm with Tugs on this one, it's rare we see eye to eye.

Ingram will take a while too adjust so I'm going with Nance

Of the five guys mentioned I'll go with Ingram, just because he has the physical tools to do it. Nance is a close second.

I voted for clarkson. I feel like he will have the most consistent mins across the team and he is an excellent athlete. His defensive woes were technical not effort or ability. Nance may move to third in line at PF as ingram plays more time at the three moving Deng to the 4. In my opinion you should judge starters and guys playing limited minutes differently. When you may only play 20 mins vs 35 it's easier to go hard on D.

All indications are that Ingram isn't going to start... Not sure I could vote for him coming off the bench with likely limited minutes.

Nance and Ingram are the easy answers, but I do think Clarkson will step up and become a really solid defender.

Nothing on the question about this season, lol. I voted Ingram though. If we are competitive and he becomes a shutdown defender, he will probably end up finishing games just for his defense on the other team's best wing.

Hopefully the stress on D isn't only in words like what has happened the past 2 years.

If it is true that Byron's really did stress the D, his inability to communicate with the players is really what did him in.
