what would jack bauer do? wrote:lake_show wrote:At this point I'd take Brown or Young over Lou. There's no reason JC shouldn't start tho. He's the best guard out of all those guys.
I understand having a strong second unit but having crappy players in your starting lineup just so you can have a good second unit makes no sense to me. It's supposed to be the other way around. Plus, D'Lo and JC play so well together.
Don't know. Hoping he starts tho.
I'd like to see if we can trade for a legit 3 and D guy like shumpert. Having a guy like that as our starter would make us a legit 35 win team I think, even with our young roster. That would give a while lot of freedom to Julius and D'angelo to show us what they're going to be capable of. It would give us a great "audition" and idea of what we need to do for next year roster-wise and it would likely inflate those two players stats if we want to move one in a trade.
But anyways I feel you, I like the idea of Clarkson off the bench potentially... Just not behind Lou. Who knows, maybe we're trying to showcase our players like Lou early to make a trade.
A guy like Shumpert would be the dream. I guess the goal is for either a guy like Brown to maybe grow into that roll or, to trade for someone to fill that roll at some point in the future. But if we're banking on a guy like Lou to turn into that after 11 years in the league I personally think we're in trouble.
The reason certain scoring guards are pegged as 6th men (such as Crawford, or Lou) is because they're usually good scorers but they either can't defend, they're too short for their position, they have trouble playing within the offense, or any combination of those. The reason Clarkson got so much 6th man hype last year (from me included) is because he's a good scorer but he was a horrible defender, and a lot of the time he needed to break his man off the dribble to score effectively. So far this year Clarkson is showing he can defend and he's not only playing within the offense but he seems to know exactly how he wants to score, and when he wants to attack. Jordan looks good... and, if he can keep that up for an entire year he IS and should be the starter.
Lou won 6th man of the year because he is a typical 6th man type player... I don't know what the obsession of subbing out D'Lo or JC for this guy is. I say let's just let him do what he does well... 6th man lol.
