My Lakers starting lineup

Luke, is still experimenting with lineups and still trying to to figure out how to come up with a starting unit that can get off to a good start in the first quarter. I think eventually we will see

C Mosgov
PF Nance jr
SF Deng
SG Ingram
PG Russell

I prefer Nance and Ingram over Randle and Clarkson because both look to move the ball and run the offense. They do the basic
fundamentals, while Randle and Clarkson are only looking to isolate and get there own shot. Also, Ingram has the ability
to initiate the offense and reminds me a lot of a young 1988 Scottie Pippen. Solid on ball defender and he can play some PG

Nance, is a better defender than Randle, has a better mid-range jumper and plays within the system

I'm not entirely convinced by Nance's ability to stretch the floor either. I'd set up my rotation like this:

Mozgov - Nance - Black
Deng - Randle - Yi
Ingram - Clarkson - Brown
Young - Lou
Russell - Calderon - Huertas

Yeah I'm playing Clarkson at back up 3 but its the 2nd unit and there won't be many true 3s with the ability to post him up coming off the bench.

I am cool with whatever lineup puts Randle with the second unit... His lack of a reliable shot, shoot first mentality and ball stopping is killing us... Nance > Randle... Clarkson, Randle, Young/Black & Nance anchor second unit... lineup as follows:

PG: Calderon (6'3")
SG: Russell (6'5")
SF: Ingram (6'8")
PF: Deng (6'9")
C: Mozgov (7'1")

Lakeshow Baby...

I think the money shelled out to Deng and Mozgov, coupled with their veteran experience will pretty much ensure that the spot is theirs to lose. I fully expect both of them to start.

Personally, I think Nance is a great spark-plug player.....but I worry about his ability to play 30+ minutes a night, with the type of game he plays. I also don't think anyone with the Lakers is ready to move on with Randle.

The other night we saw Ingram controlling the ball, and I think that really helped improve his game. I think he leads the bench.

Russell, Clarkson, Deng, Randle, Mozgov.

Calderon, Williams/Young, Ingram, Nance, Black are the backups.

I do think Clarkson and Randle will have to watch their backs. Nance has a great game, and he will make it harder and harder on the coaches. Clarkson seems like a better fit off the bench, but I don't know if you want Lou starting.

I like Clarkson, the guy is a steal considering where we got him. But I do think SG is our weakest position. I can see he and Lou switching back and forth throughout the season. Perhaps start Lou...and make Clarkson the back up PG/SG? I could see that as well.

Agreed.

However, I'm totally okay going with Russell/Clarkson/Deng/Randle/Mozgov to start off. Luke's a smart basketball mind and he'll figure out over time the best ways to make the most of our personnel.

Ya'll got it all wrong.

Correct Line-Up Post All-Star Break:

DLO
Clarkson
Ingram
Deng
Mozgov

Lou, Randle, Calderon, Nance, Black rounding out the 10 man rotation

I think Luke will go with this starting lineup:

PG: Russell
SG: Young
SF: Deng
PF: Nance
C: Mozgov

c - Mozgov, Zubac

I'm thrilled that he started Randle over Nance. That is a good starting lineup, now that Nick plays D.

Yeah I was thinking am I the only one who liked the starting 5. With Young playing this kind of D, and Randle playing under control this 5 is great. Black-Nance-Ingram-Clarkson coming off the bench is perfect. I'm surprised Ingram handling our playmaker duties off the bench and am very impressed with him. In the future that Randle-Ingram-Clarkson-Russell lineup will be too much to handle with everyone can play of off everyone 8-)

I think we should not start Young and have Clarkson out there.

For Christmas hopefully Luke will give Laker fans the gift of Ingram starting. Make him earn it for 2 months with great play.

I don't know... To me Clarkson is perfect off the bench but with long minutes... I also like Ingram coming in and sort of playing an expanded Randle role with the second unit as a primary distributor. If Young can play CONSISTENTLY solid D, I think I'd give him the start at 3, but he should never be given the green light to shoot if he's going to do it as poorly as he did last night...

I think by Christmas, we'll see this line-up:

PG: Ingram
SG: Russell
SF: Deng
PF: Randle
C: Mozgov

Mozgov, Randle, Deng, Young, Russell is a balanced line up and Randle and Russell can have a longer leash. Same with Clarkson with the second unit. As much as I want Lou's scoring, he's style is too ball hawking at times. Keep that in check and I think he'll fit in nicely.

A big line up from the bench with JC, Ingram, Metta, Nance, and Black would also give lesser 2nd unit trouble executing their offense.

Lou Williams needs to be moved ASAP
Clarkson is the 6th man, and should get near 30 mins a night

The starting 5 is a nice mix. Russell and young can shoot from range, Randle creates, deng is the garbage "do it all" man, and mozgov holds down the low block.

Russell
Nick freaking young
Deng
Randle
mozgov

The best line is when the lakers go small
Russell
Clarkson
Ingram
Nance
Randle

By mid season I hope to see this unit starting to play together for large stretchs

There is talent on the roster. And Luke is a good coach. This team can win games

Russell
Clarkson
Young
Deng
Randle

Randle can't play defense, but i know for a fact Deng won't be slipping on defensive rotations when Randle gets beat. This is why we cannot have Mozgov and Randle in at the same time.

Jose
Williams
Ingram
Nancy
Black

This second line up is nice because we know Lou will get his buckets, our interior defense isn't complete trash, and Jose has shown to be a great leader. Our perimeter defense might be pretty bad in this line up, but i like the scoring and IQ this unit brings.

The thing is we are not paying Mozgov 64 mil to not play.
