Whaaaat?!?!?... What does this mean? Are they trying to keep both Metta and T-Rob.Or, they're trying to go after someone else. Unless they just want to keep an extra slot on the roster open. So confused.

Did not see him as on the block but glad to see that TRob found a place he has a lot of energy.

Not surprising, dude was a 3&D player who could neither shoot nor play D. I hope this means there is a trade in the works to add some depth at the 2/3.

As I see it, this is how our current depth chart looks:

Mozgov/Zubac/Black
Deng/Randle/Nance/Metta/T-Rob
Ingram/Young
Lou/Clarkson
Russell/Calderon/Huertas

Pretty surprised but not exactly a crazy move. Can only develop so many players and surrounding them with as many veterans as possible seems to be the route they want to take.

I agree... Some combination of Deng Metta Nance Randle is going to have to play sf too it seems... Only one who might be able to do it is Deng from what I've seen...

Gah, sucks for him. Was a local kid, but as others stated: he couldn't make the open 3. Good defender. Maybe he works on his shot with the D-League?

Man the FO has been so solid at drafting lately, it's just a shame not to get another keeper with the 34th pick. Was there anybody we missed out on with that pick?

Norman Powell could have been excellent. Josh Richardson as well may be but no one we will regret for too long.

It's just odd to add two more (essentially) Power Forwards to a team already stacked at that position. I get Brown might not have been the best option at that spot but it'd probably make more sense to waive Metta and pick-up another SG/SF. If T-Rob was redundant, Metta is overkill.

Honestly, I probably would've taken a harder look at Travis Wear if that was the case. The guy can at least shoot.

Russell/Clarkson/Lou/Nick/Calderon/Ingram can all play SG.

Nick/Deng/Ingram/Meta can play SF (plus Randle or Nance in spot minutes).

I think a lot of guys are penciling Zubac into rotation minutes and I think a lot of signs point toward him being brought up slowly.

You might only play 10 or 11 guys regular minutes in a season anyway, so a lot of what goes into choosing a bench is about practice and culture.

I'd definitely look to waive Metta and bring in someone like RJ Hunter on a trial or keep that 15th spot open.

Ingram hasn't gotten any SG minutes yet, but if that's the case then sure. Also, all those guys can play SG but not all of them can guard SG.

Also, Deng can maybe play SF, but Metta? I don't know. Plus, I'm not too sure Deng won't end up playing more PF than SF by the end of the year.

I mean, I don't mind it. I love Metta. He brings a lot to the table in practice and off the court. Just not what I expected I guess.

Yeah, I'm all for Metta sticking with the team in some fashion, but it seems silly to have him on the roster. I liked Robinson also, but not enough to keep him over filling a position of need... The wheels on the Young train are bound to fall off eventually too... So that's another possible wasted spot...

I'm glad Brown was cut. Nick Young playing well and playing D made him expendable. Also, as I've said multiple times the last year, Anthony Brown is not an NBA player. Good teammate, good work ethic, but that's about it.

Robinson brings legit athleticism, rebounding and effort to the floor. He's the type of guy you need in the rotation for 8-10 MPG on the 2nd night of a back to back when shots aren't falling and we can't buy a bucket. Guys like him have a skill of coming into the game, mucking things up, getting offensive rebounds, getting to the FT line, etc.

We have a good young coaching staff that will work with him on his FT shooting as well as shooting mechanics.

Slava, from a Lakers perspective, I'm betting this is how they look at the line-up (right or wrong):

PG: D'Angelo Russell/ Calderon/ Huertas
SG: Lou Williams/ Clarkson/ Young
SF: Luol Deng/ Ingram/ World Peace
PF: Julius Randle/ Nance/ Robinson
C: Timofey Mozgov/ Black/ Zubac

IL: Zubac/MWP

I guess KD blocked more than just his shot. Also his career being a Laker. I am glad he is gone.

I actually think MWP is a better small ball center than Randle

Bottom line is that at some point, you have to show something. He had one good preseason game, and is at the peak of his developmental curve. He just wasn't good enough at hitting 3's, and if he isn't going to get minutes behind Ingram, Deng, and Young, then having a veteran set of eyes and voice meant more than investing time and energy into a player who wasn't showing any progress.
