I would probably suggest avoiding the Beat Poets then...
I actually love Kerouac. His narration doesn't feel forced.
Yeah, Kerouac is the most popular for a reason... He's probably the most accessible... He keeps things more neutral.
Ginsberg and Burroughs are better writers, but I can't read much of their work. The subject matter, is... Unrelatable.
I just figured the homo-erotic overtones of the Beats might trigger the same matador's ballsack reaction...
If you like Kerouac, do you like Bukowski? He's like if Kerouac, Burroughs and Ginsberg had a love-child and he dug chicks...

I haven't read much Bukowski but that's on my reading list and I also like Ginsberg. The problem wasn't the homoerotic overtones, there are barely any in For whom the bell tolls, it's a love story set around the Spanish revolution, but the utter pointlessness of a narrational tangent. I did not expect it to be so tiresome when Hemingway is considered to be the example of keeping prose simple.

Grapes of wrath is one of my favourite books and probably the greatest written about the depression period.

More proof there is no justice in the world: T.J. Simers just won an age discrimination lawsuit for $15 million.

Biggest loser is Demariyus Thomas, who had to end up on the Jets to create a roster spot for that clown.
