That Carmelo trade really hurts our chances at PG and Westbrook.

i don't see either staying in OKC and i still don't russ inking an extension because george and melo won't be committing

That's the point, even in the worse case scenario, he dumped about $100M in salary between Kanter and Oladipo.

mind you, if they end up with nothing, kanter and oladipo with adams would've been a mid lottery starting point

No it would have taken them two firsts to dump that salary.

they wouldn't have needed to dump them if they lost everything

in fact, they'd have the cap space to sell for picks

Even if they lose everthing now they will have even more cap space to sell for picks owing to not having Oladipo and Kanter's salary on the books. That's the gist of it.

they would've still needed to get to the cap floor, they would've had enough cap space to sell

it might've been a case of too much cap space, like philly throwing 23 mil at redick

They will have until all star weekend to reach the salary floor so they can take their time absorbing salaries, if not they pay out the remaining money between their own players. No sweat. Presti has owned this offseason.

Not sure how to feel about the OKC trade. Melo is too old to really help OKC get more wins so all I see is massive chemistry issues in their starting lineup.

Having said that I don't care all that much if PG comes here. Spending max money on a frindge top 20 player isn't ideal.

As for it affecting LeBron's intentions of coming here, we will see. I'm 100% convinced he would ask management to trade away Ingram and Lonzo for win now players.

Dumping the Kanter and Oladipo contracts were brilliant for OKC IMO.
Getting PG is a huge risk for them though.
He asked to leave a small market in Indiana, and I doubt he'll settle in another similar market in OKC.
On paper now they have 3 superstars, so the initial reaction may be that they will be contenders.
They might be, but they have two ball dominant players now offensively in Westbrook and Melo.
That will be a difficult offense to run with those two.

And Melo is up there in age and mileage.
They're window is pretty narrow.

I still think PG bolts after next year, unless they advance far into the WC playoffs.
And they're no match for GSW.

I think Melo helps OKC a lot, assuming they can work out the chemistry issues which honestly I think us fans make a bigger deal out of it than the players do. I think Melo as a third option is pretty scary.

But now he'll have to play the 4, and I thought his whole deal with Woodson and the Knicks was that he didn't want to bang down low.

He'll probably play most of his minutes with the second unit, being they're scorer.
PG and Westbrook will play together a lot.
Melo will make their second untit stronger.

I wonder how long it takes before Westbrook literally wants Melo dead. I'm thinking it'll be his Christmas wish.

Just dont see it. Westbrook seemingly fulfilled his, "Look how good I am" last year when he killed himself to get bounced out of the playoffs. You'd think he would welcome the help. I got OKC 3rd on the west.

I'm thinking by Christmas at the latest?

However... This can go both ways. If RWB never passes the ball late in the fourth Q I can see Melo wanting as far away from OKC as he can possibly get as quickly as he can possibly get there.
Sometimes being wrong is awesome!!! :D

Most likely signs with the Cavs.

I was thinking the same thing this afternoon when I heard about the Melo trade...
Wife: "you haven't heard a single thing I said"
