Hey guys,

Im from Toronto but I typically escape the super cold months of Jan/Feb for warmer pastures. I was in Florida last year for 2.5 months during winter - and this year I'm considering Palm Springs. Just want to know if any of you are familiar with the area? I am a big golfer so thats why Im leaning towards this location. I dont really care for the LA busy city life but I like how Im only 1.5-2 hour drive from LA. Just wanted to get your thoughts on which areas in Palm Springs are good or if not Palm Springs, given that I like golf and not as much of a busy inner city fan, what areas would be good for me that are reasonably priced. I looked online and apparently living in Palm Springs is 33% less expensive than living in LA. So I figured with the good golf and decent pricing - that would be a solid choice. However is Palm Springs all old people? Wouldn't mind some younger people and a few babes here and there... I have an online business which is why Im able to come down for 3 months. Im bringing my parents down with me too.

This prob won't be incredibly popular...but I'm just gonna say it: Chill down in Palm-Springs, and check out San Diego. That place is a PARADISE. Great vibe...very beautiful. Start down there...and come up to LA for a weekend. LA has alot to offer, and It's my home. I love the place obviously....but I think after a weekend trip or two up here...you'll be glad you set up base down in PalmSprings/SD.

My two cents worth.....I think you'll be happier down there. Great city, that's big, but not this giant Metropolis. Great nightlife. Palm-Springs is really close. I think you'll have SD figured out pretty quick.

Been to T-Town many times. I go for New-Years alot. Was there last new-years actually. I was there for about 3 days in July. T-Town is pretty awesome. Gets butt-arse cold though, no doubt. Good for you on the ability to pack up and leave for couple months. I'm jealous. Summer in T-Town, and Winter in Palm-Springs / San Diego??? Sh**....I dunno if it gets much better, honestly.

Disneyland should be nice at that time of year.

Just hit the beaches and eat at all the fancy popular places from Eater.

You should see if you can attend a Laker game or two, you know, to support the local team.

You're gonna get fat. So much good food. Palm Springs has awesome golf if your staying at the place. San Diego would be a great 2 months spent. You won't feel isolated in a desert and it still has great golf.

While you are in LA, you should definitely attend a protest or two. Might turn into a riot if you're lucky. Great story to tell when you get back home.

I live in so cal in orange county. Palm Springs is a beautiful area especially in the winter when its not hot. It becomes a lot more populated in the winter months when snow birds from all over come down. It's great for golfing! There's places to golf, and places in general that are all very nice especially Palm Desert. Indian Wells, and La Quinta are also really nice resort cities which are nice, relaxing, great for golfing, and don't have the LA busy city feel. However yes a lot of older people live there, so it will not have much night life to offer, and a younger guy could get bored after a while. Downtown Palm Spings is nice and has some places to go out to, but gets old quick.

I agree with others. Check out San Diego. Amazing city that is a big city, but has a small town feel (especially when compared to LA). Weather is great, clean city, lots to do, and beaches. Plus there's golfing all over in Torrey Pines, Del Mar, North county has many golf courses. Also similar to Palm Springs, San Diego is only about two hours from L.A if traffic isn't awful. I grew up in San Diego County

Yes, Palm Springs is pretty much all old people. But it is a very good place for golfing. I don't think you'll find too many babes there. You'll find a lot of them in SD though. We've also been going a heat wave so it might be TOO hot in palm springs, yes our winter is non existant this year.

Appreciate the insights guys! Will definitely check out SD. Super excited to get back down there.
