The Lakers and Spurs meet for the 161st time in this series of two of the most winningest teams in the Western Conference.
The Spurs lead the all time series with 83 wins to the Lakers 77. The Lakers will be facing former Laker and 2 time champion Pau Gasol in his first visit to Staples Center as a Spur. The Lakers come into the game as the league's 2nd highest scoring team at 110 while the Spurs are 10th at 101 per game.

The Lakers will be looking to push the tempo on the older Spurs, the key to this game will be controlling the glass and trying to limit turnovers that can put the Spurs in transition. Khawi Leonard leads the Spurs in steals on the season with 29 in 11 games,keeping the ball out of his passing lanes will be crucial. The Lakers must also contain the Spurs from 3 point line where they shoot 39%, but the Lakers are only allowing opponents to shoot 27% at Staples.

If the Lakers can limit their turnovers,move the ball and control the glass and get the usual bench production all of this should allow the Lakers to push the tempo and make the Spurs match up to them. Bottom line is this game will probably end up as one of the usual Laker/Spur slug fest this series has known.

Will be really hard to win this, but I wouldn't be surprised if we can come out with this one.

I like how we match up with the Spurs.

One of the keys will be Randle on Aldridge. I'd love to see Randle give LA fits all night.

And our bench is better than theirs.

I'll be pretty surprised myself, but stranger things have happened. We're doomed if we play their tempo. They can't run with us. The advantage here has to go with the veterans..and not just any veterans. Even without Duncan, they have Pau who's been in 3 Finals series...and plenty of great battles. He's no Johnny come lately to the idea of dictating tempo. Their whole team is made up of guys who have been through it all. Making you play THEIR game, is 2nd nature to them. Our only saving grace is that we're frankly too young and dumb to know that we're not supposed to have a chance tmrw.

Attack, attack, attack. Keep rotating our young guys, and just go at them. Keep moving the ball..and wear them down. We do those things...and have a good shooting night, and we could smoke them even worse than GS, no doubt.

I ain't bettin' my house on it though....I can tell ya that.

Hopefully Pau will have one of his 2-3 rebound games that used to drive me up the fu****g wall when he played for us. Seriously...you could go get a trash can, and set it out on the floor somewhere within 10-ft of a hoop....and it will get 2-rebounds, no problem. How on Earth a 7-foot elite player could only manage 2-3 boards in 35 minutes of playing, is completely beyond me. But he'd do it! Fairly often too. It would be GREAT if he repaid the favor tmrw. (watch him get 15)

Curious who Kawhi will guard. I'm not concerned about him intercepting passes to Luol.
If ever Luke decides on the 3 guard line up though, I'm excited to see Clarkson on Leonard.

hopefully deng rides the bench for the most part...

A lot of you might be writing this one as a loss already, but over the years we've proven that we can beat the spurs and with this new team/coach/system and everybody hungry anything can happen - we've beaten Houston/GSW and now lets beat spurs to shut the rest of the league up.
