An article I found on Reddit. I'm not exactly surprised to find out that DLO modeled his game after Ginobili, and I hope that he eventually reaches that level.

"You try to go to what you're accustomed to," he said. "And Manu was never as athletic, but he could really pass the ball. He could score the ball, and he was just so unpredictable, and he was a lefty, so he was a player that I really prided myself on being."

Ginobli plays more defense now that Russell.

Kidding aside, I hope he's truly looking at players like Manu over other less well rounded guys out there to emulate. I'm not seeing Manu in his game at this point. Better yet, why emulate anyone? Just work to be the best you can be.

He's more Jeff Hornacek than Ginobli.

harden and brandon roy were getting compared to ginobili prior entering the league, Rusell was compared to Roy and Harden prior entering the league.

He's already a far more potent scorer at 20 than Conley has ever been. People have some seriously messed up expectations for Russell. Already averaging 22/6/4 per 36minutes as a 20 year old PG.

Talking about the defensive part of Conley's game. I'd say Conley is far ahead in that area than Russell. I'm not expecting anything, just want him to improve. Sorry my opinion is such blasphemy to you...

I thought you were talking about the financial part of Conley's game. The only part (imo) that's worth taking notice of.

Mediocre talent being the highest payed player in the NBA (does that mean all-time???) ....at least he's doing something right. I'd model my 'game' after his too, if I could.

You want him to model his defensive game after Mike Conely???... That's interesting. I hope you're not just trolling because that is kind of interesting.

I haven't watched a lot of Mike Conely, so I wouldn't know... Why do you say Mike Conely tho? and, not just defense in general. What does he do?

4 of the top 5 PGs in the league are either bad or terrible defensively. 2 of the five are considered by most to be top 5 players in the league. The one that is not bad defensively is CP3 who has never made it past the second round. It just goes to show you how little defensive play at the position influences the outcome of games. And no my response was not directed solely at you, but at the ridiculous overall expectations that many show towards Russell, because he simply isn't at an Harden, Curry, or Westbrook level at this point in his career despite averaging 22.2, 6.2, 4.5 per 36 minutes . To put this in perspective, at 20 years of age, CP3 was a rookie, Westebrook, and Harden were rookies. Lillard and Curry were still playing college ball.

I could not agree more. I talked about this a little in the Brandon Ingram thread but I dropped the matter so as to not sidetrack the discussion, but offensively, D'Lo is starting to look like a thouroughbred. I think he can be an efficient 25 ppg scorer at this level. And this is not a case of confirmation bias, as I was very leery of his ceiling as a scorer when he was drafted. This also isn't a case of me overreacting to the small sample size of this season, as I watched him like a hawk in summer league and preseason, and I first starting noticing his scoring prowess there.

Russell please play defense. How about a little bit more defrensive effort on the pic n roll?
