What is going on. Almost 30 games into the season, I would of liked to see some shooting improvement. This has to be a confidence issue at this point or is it worse?

7.9ppg at 35% shooting for a #2 pick almost half way in the season? This is not what I expected.

With his tool set he should be a force at the offensive end.

He was the 2nd youngest player in the draft. It's also mid-December and there are 55 games left.

He has generally good form, takes good shots, makes good decisions with the ball. He's just fine

He was never going to be 'a force' this year... Given his age and body type, he may not even be a force next year. He's likely a 3 yr project. It's spectacular that he's getting actual NBA PT right now, but the expectations should be realistic.
I still think he's closer than a lot of people thought to being a legit star, but I still don't think that's happening this season. And it would be a miracle if it happened next season. But season 3? Could be...

You have to give a scarecrow like him time to get some muscularity, which will enhance his coordination, which will improve his timing, and stamina... Point being, nothing to see here.

I dont ever see Ingram being the first option offensively on a team (which is totally fine).

See him being more of a 3rd or 4th option. Still, I think his overall game has been good so far this season. I think the problem is too many fans didn't watch him at Duke and just read the report he was Durantesque.

Still think he'll be the one to lead this team along with Dlo. Once his strength and conditioning improve nobody will question him anymore.

I still think he's going to be a stud but not Durant-level stud. I'm not worried as he was dunking on guys and using whatever strength he had to get to his spots at Duke.

He just needs, wait for it...TIME.

I feel like this applies to the other young guys except for maybe Clarkson. This is not going to be a quick rebuild. No need to panic just yet.

He definitely needs to gain some strength, but then again that's something we all knew would take time (years). Outside of that, i don't care if he shoots bad, I just want him to be aggressive.

Exactly.

Still think Ingram becomes a more complete 2 way player than durant over the course of his career albeit possibly never becoming that great a shooter as durant. Also think Ingram will be a much better playmaker

I do see a lot of what i saw at duke from ingram, late bloomer with a frame that literally distorts the game for a play or two. Eventually he'll string it all together like at Duke. By season's end, I feel confident OP will be pleased with Ingram's development

Kid's my favorite player on the team, im just amazed at how much he can do at such a young age. He's going to be a scary scary player.

Offensively, it's tough to say. He has on ball skills better than someone like Paul George did in his 1st year, but you can't predict based off of that since we don't know how his frame is going to fill out. Obviously he's going to gain more weight, but it's still wait and see if he will be able to go inside near the elbow and high post that he did at Duke. I don't think he'll be like Durant at all. Durant was able to find buckets straight out of college and is a transcendent player. But I do hold out hopes that Ingram can be like Marion but with better on ball skills.

That bench unit advanced stats that we've been jerking off to, he's been the primary ballhandler and best defender on that unit.

He's what i expected to be honest. Raw, very very Raw.

I think he can be an efficient scorer in the league but recently i just think its a slump. I'm more worried with the likes of Randle than with Ingram.

Start him over useless scrub Deng. And give him 30 mpg and you will see.

Exactly... Ingram has the ability to facilitate as good as anyone on the team... And he's got a natural instinct for playing Defense.

His problem is he hasn't grown into his body yet... He's not as crisp on offense as he will be, nor as strong and coordinated as he will be on Defense... But he's already damned good... So I think logic dictates that we give him time.

Ingram isn't a 'just add minutes' player right now... Personally, I'd like to see him get less floor time, not more... I think he's hitting the wall a little with the schedule we've had and I don't want him breaking down... That's the flip side of his body type... He could get injured and go from stud to injury prone real quick.
I think we've seen enough and should slow him down heading into the all-star break.

Actually, with Randle still clearly not 100%, we might actually be better off playing Deng more instead of less. He seems to be getting more of a rhythm going anyway... Maybe he's the 'just add minutes' guy in this equation.

More than anything though, we need to see a lot more on both ends of the court from Russell... If he's going to be the leader of this team, now's a perfect time to show it.

Anyone remember the video posted on The General Board about the difficulties of shooting with "poofy" hair? I found it to be true. Maybe it applies here (with Ingram's shooting)?

Given Durant shot like 5% his rookie year, I'm really not worried. Teenage rookies generally take 2-3 years to become NBA players.

I'm not worried about Ingram. I think he'll be fine, but Durant shot 43% his rookie year. He was horrible from 3 though. Shooting only 28%.

Durant: 43% fgp 28% 3pt
Ingram: 35% fgp 30% 3pt

Ingram may or may not ever turn into the shooter Durant is but I think he'll probably end up being a better defender than Durant ever was.

He's got a point though. You should expect more out of a second overall selection.

Ingram wasn't raw coming out and was heralded as one of the more NBA ready players, age aside, so it should be a little disappointing that he's shown so little given the hype that surrounded him.

Because of his age I'm not really worried though. But I'm also not gonna blame others for feeling a tad frustrated. To these people all I'll say is look at the trajectory of development of today's marque wing players; Harden, Kawhi, George and Jimmy Butler. These guys didn't become stars overnight.
