Lakers interested in deal for Paul Millsap
Our Los Angeles Lakers were interested in a deal to acquire Paul Millsap. However, The Hawks have told teams they are no longer interested in trading him.

What do you think Mitch was offering?
I assume a Lou/Young/2nd Rounder was the offer. Assuming it works money wise. We'd probably take back a contract I'd assume. Can't imagine Mitch trading a core player for an expiring.

Why in the world would we be interested in trading for him? We already committed 4 years to Deng and we have Randle taking the minutes at the 4.

I assume some will make the argument that he's a great player so we need him. Well, we don't need him. Nance and Randle are fantastic. Robinson and Black are great for their roles. Deng and Mozgov are starting to click but still on terrible contracts.
Unless we were giving up Deng or Mozgov, I don't think it would've been a good trade no matter what.
I assume it was just Mitch being Mitch, putting out a feeler and seeing what's up.

Wow, that's interesting. Exactly what this team needs... Another Power Forward.
Kind of glad they took him off the market.

I guess the hawks are taking in Deng this case and we make playoff push. Not sure what we offered at the time of talks for pics.

Re: Lakers interested in deal for Paul Millsap
Doesn't make sense on our part. We'd have to be giving up Randle, or Nance and I don't see that happening. Even if we included Deng in any deal where we'd only have to give up another vet and/or picks we'd still be short at the SF spot, and we'd still be running 4 Power Forwards. The only reason we get away with it now is because we start Deng at SF. I get Milsap is a good player but the trade really doesn't make any sense regardless of how you slice it.

Why would we trade for Millsap? Dude's going downhill and Randle will be better than him next year.

Agreed. Millsap woulda been a great catch like 5 years ago.
Besides....he's a position we don't need. If they wanted to trade him for Deng, and take that contract off of us, I'd be down with that. Otherwise, I'm not interested.

I also think we offered Deng, seeing if the Hawks would like to get someone as stretch 4 rather than lose Millsap for nothing.

Kupchak could be doing his due diligence and also scoping out any possibility of facilitating a 3 team deal, seeing as how we can use Calderon's expiring as a bait to get a 2nd rounder or a young player.

Don't believe this one... Thinking name-drop article to drive up interest... Same with the whole 'pulling him off the trade market' nonsense.
I don't even think this one reaches 'due diligence' level.

Woj is known to be the most reliable in terms of trade/Fa news though....

Nobody would want Deng unless an unprotected 1st round pick is being attached with him. I can't imagine even Randle, Russel or Ingram have enough trade value to get rid of a contract like Deng so an unprotected 1st would likely have to be attached to him.
Lakers are better off just eating that contract for the next 4 years and hoping he's able to teach a thing or two to Ingram.
As for Millsap....he does have the ability to play SF as well.

Re: Lakers interested in deal for Paul Millsap
Probably had a Calderon/zubac offer or something like that in mind, I mean saying someone is interested doesn't mean much, it's all about what you're willing to offer. Saying a team is interested in an article without providing any context as to how interest they are in regards to what they're willing to offer is simply click bait. I'm sure a ton of teams called just to see what the hawks wanted but you can't very list every team name in the article, gotta go with what will generate views.

The 'report' consisted of nothing more than we were 'interested'... Which is probably true on some level of every single team in the league...
So you have to ask yourself, why name the Lakers specifically? Is it really logical that a trade with us has any legs? I think no matter how you cut it, the answer is 'No.'

Re: Lakers interested in deal for Paul Millsap
I'm with Kilroy, every team should be interested in a player like him.
With that said, that would be so stupid to trade for Paul at this stage of our development. Randle is just starting to blossom, and Nance shows great promise. Acquiring Millsap at this time reminds me what the Magic did by bringing Ibaka in and trading the young, promising Oladipo for him. Hasn't turned out so great for Orlando.
