If we keep our pick...
What do we do with it? Who are your top 3 draft choices in order (just assume they'll be available). Would you rather trade the pick?
I'd keep it and in order:
Ball
Fultz
Smith jr
Move dlo to the 2
Ball/Clarkson
Dlo/Lou
Ingram/deng
Randle/nance
Garbage

Warspite:
Prince + filler for Kobe Bryant
To be honest the way Prince has played and with Kobes injury/age/mileage Im not sure I would do that deal either. Still Prince is more important and he wins the head to head battles with Kobe.

Don't do this to yourselves. There's like a 94% chance we won't keep it.

Re: If we keep our pick...
Lakers have the 7th worst record right now.
Nets 8-30
Heat 11-29
76ers 11-25
Suns 12-27
Mavs 12-27
TWolves 13-26
Lakers 15-28
If we are talking most losses, Lakers have the 3rd most.
Lakers need to get to 4th worst to have a decent shot of keeping the pick. That gives you a 37.8% chance of getting a top 3 pick. Wolves, Suns and Mavs have decent enough talent to perhaps pass them. Lakers need to help out by trading away Lou Williams and Nick Young, neither of who should be in the Lakers' future plans.

Re: If we keep our pick...
While I don't think we should plan for the pick you have to include the "trend" here. Some of those teams are getting stronger as the year moves on.... we, on the other hand, are not.
If we do get it I'd hope we look to move it with one of the younger guys for a star level player. We need that one guy to take the scoring load and be the finisher. That one move could really help the rest of the young guys develop somewhat in the shadows.

Good luck with that because Lakers are said no to that, and the other 29 teams wants nothing to do with us.

Re: If we keep our pick...
Honestly, if we somehow end up keeping the pick it really benefits us in the future. That Orlando pick becomes a 2nd round pick instead of a first. Like I said in another thread, if we are building up on chemistry by all means keep trying to win, but if we keep seeing **** shows like the Spurs game then try to keep our pick.
Another thing, Mitch needs to be smarter with draft picks the next time around when he tries to land a big superstar. I know, I know, by all means necessary, but damn after 5 years these trades (Nash & Howard) are still biting us in the ass and will still bite us in the ass in the future.

Re: If we keep our pick...
It'd be cool for us to get lucky with keeping the pick again but would much prefer making the playoffs as it would accomplish more. However, I'd love for us to end up in 9th to 10th place and be locked in for a pick between 9-12. At best, we jump into the top 3 and can dangle the pick for a potential star acquisition on draft day and at worst, we just miss the playoffs and give Philly a very very disappointing pick.

Expect the list of potential star acquisition is shrinking now so not much left.

If the Lakers get lucky and keep their pick the first thing you do is shop it around. If they are picking a player with the top pick you take Lonzo Ball. This kid does it all and his best skill is making everyone better. He's a winner. I'm also a huge fan of Malik Monk. Pure shooting stroke. His game reminds me of McCollum/Klay

Re: If we keep our pick...
i think we've got a decent shot at getting the #3 worst record (ain't beating brooklyn or miami for those top 2 spots)
but only if we act now, over the last 10 games, dallas (4-6), phoenix (4-6) and philadelphia (5-5) have posted better records than the lakers (3-7)
we need only maintain losing 1 more game every 10 games and by 82 games, we'll be 1 game clear of dallas and phoenix for 3rd overall worst record and a 47% chance of keeping our pick, basically a 50-50 tossup

Re: If we keep our pick...
This is really a year for me where it is all about the number 1 pick and getting Fultz. Outside of that I'm not all that excited about the draft. I have reservation on Monk for his size and Ball with his broken looking shot.

Not this time guys, the NBA is now at peace with us. No more picks, at least this year.

Sat 1/21/17 We will get to see Ball and Fultz on the court.
I like the potential and mental toughness I see in Ball.
I have not see Fultz yet so I am looking forward to seeing what he is like.
As for the pick Never say never even though right now the odds aren't so great but
the last 3 drafts we got decent picks but missed on Turner.

If we keep our pick, I'm trading it for a star.

The problem is that no star will be available anymore especially when they signed their monster contracts with their teams. Thanks a lot NBA for the new CBA.

I cant wait for that game. I like Ball the most because he makes his teammates better on top of being a monster himself. I would love to get his defense at the head of the snake.
