For teams considering a trade for George, here’s the risk: As a free agent in the summer of 2018, he has considered re-signing with Indiana or joining his hometown Los Angeles Lakers, sources tell The Vertical.

I hope we don't trade for this dude. In fact, I hope we don't trade for anyone. I'm all for adding players to the squad in addition to what we have. That's the only way we can contend with the top teams going forward. Like someone else said in another thread, trading all of our young talent for a all-star just puts us in the same position as the team he left... not winning.

Ahhh yet another PG to Lakers thread. Haven't seen many of these the past 3-4 years...
My interest isn't what is used to be prior to his leg injury. Pacers will likely find a suitor (thinking Boston), but if I'm the Lakers I'm staying pat and not trading any of our assets. We're much better off testing our luck in free agency.

As for the piece, probably to scare off the Celtics who will probably land him. Up to him if he wants to Paul Pierce it or come to LA.

If I was Magic, I'd phone and offer Ingram, Clarkson, Zubac and the Houston 1st. If they take it, great. If not, let's wait for next off-season and position ourselves to take a run at him.

Paul George
DLo
Randle
Ingram
Nance
Clarkson
Zubak
Brewer
With the possibility of Lonzo Ball
Stay put only thing to do is try to get trade Young.
Or is it possible to trade the Houston pick right before the draft to move up?
Add in another Star and that is a good team.
Paul George would be a more likely scenario than Butler cause Boston can offer more and George
is from CA.

I know this may grind on people's gear, but the Lakers need to be patient here. Right now i think there's a bunch of spin coming out of Indy and Chicago to get Boston to include their nets pick in any trade discussions. Obviously, Boston isn't going for that or else there would be a trade.
If the Lakers can wait til this draft and get that top 3 pick, they would really be able to get Paul George or Jimmy Butler w/o including Ingram who is LA biggest asset right now. Building around those 2 pieces is the core you can contend with.

Agents love to leak the Lakers in any scenario at the deadline and at Draft time. It's the lever they need oftentimes to get what they want.
Regardless of the source I'd take this with a mountain of salt.

Lakers gets linked to a few superstars every year, because apparently everyone wants to play here. And then free agency hits, and these guys all turn the team down. I'm sure PG wants to play for the Lakers...if we get two other superstars to pair with him, and have three more number one overall picks to trade for more help. As currently constructed, why would he come here? So he could live in lottery hell for the next five years?

While I don't think he's coming here, I wouldn't be hesitant to offer some variation of Ingram, Clarkson, Randle, HOU 1st. Indy would probably want a godfather offer from the Lakers, especially with Bird at the helm.

Ingram and a salary matcher would be enough if they're going into rebuild mode.

Patience a a virtue. Why would we, the Los Angeles Lakers, give away our treasure chest of youth for a man who will be a free agent next summer?
Take a look at the what's changed over the last two weeks. There is already a vibe surrounding Laker basketball that has been absent for four years.
A summer developing our youth, adding a top 3 pick, and next year we win 37/40 games and compete for the playoffs. Players will want to play for the Lakers again.
Embrace the comeback!

that's insane. Just Paul George and Russell will be trash team not much better than we our now, but just good enough to kill us getting a pick.
We should wait for our young talent to get good enough to sign FAs, don't trade our assets away when we aren't going to win anything anyway.

I'd do Ingram/Clarkson/Moz/Hou 1st for PG/Aljef... But they probably wouldn't...
I don't think we have a smart deal without bringing in a second team.

For the sake of argument here I'll just say it:
Paul George won't even be a top player in the western conference.
Durant
Curry
Leonard
Harden
Westbrook
Anthony Davis
DMC
CP3
Marc Gasol
http://nbamath.com/tpa-database/nba-2016-17-tpa-scores/In TPA he's 62nd in the league. 62nd in PER as well.
http://insider.espn.com/nba/hollinger/statistics/_/page/2His PER is 18.6. In fact he's never managed to reach a PER of more than 20.9 and he's only been above 20 once. I get the limitations of PER, but I don't know too many guys labeled a superstar who have managed that feat.
39th in EWA
http://insider.espn.com/nba/hollinger/statistics/_/sort/VORPeI get why we held of on DMC, but he's a much more elite player than Paul George. Giving up assets like Ingram, DAR, or Zubac shortens our window for a guy who can't lead a team to the eastern playoffs on a veteran team.
So maybe for the right package I'd do it, but I don't think we should expect a superstar.
He's seen as a two way player, but this year he's not been very impressive on that end. His Diff% is actually lower than Jordan Clarkson's
http://stats.nba.com/players/defense-dash-overall/#!?sort=PCT_PLUSMINUS&dir=-1That means when he's guarding someone, they shoot 1.0% better than normal.
I have no doubt that on a better constructed team he'd perform better, but just saying he's not really worth mortgaging everything for when you actually consider the buzzsaw that GSW is going to continue to be.
Like...that can't be overstated. Why are we in a hurry to shortcut to a 9th seed?
It would be best to pair him with our guys once they're more seasoned than to strand him on LAL with whatever scraps are left after a trade.

Granted but those "stats" are also attached to many players on better teams than he is that have never achieved anything either. To me it says more about the stats than it does about the players.
Individual stats, even combined ones, are just that. Teams are mixes of complementary players in a system that elicits the best parts of their respective games. There is no stat for that other than W's.
George specifically would be a great pick up if the price wasn't a killer. No guarantee that even one of our youngsters will be as impactful as he is. That said, to get the assets necessary we'd trade 3 of the 4 I'd think. That's probably too much for just one guy given the depth of our hole.
