NCAA College Basketball Thread
I don't post on the General Board so I figured maybe we could create an NCAA College Basketball Thread here, especially with March quickly approaching.
If anyone is watching Florida vs Kentucky, you'll know I'm very high on Devin Robinson from Florida from past years. Well, he's improved this year. He was thought initially to be a one and done player and then the coaching change from Billy Donovan to Mike White caused him to reconsider. Last year he had a bad year but this year he's been exactly as advertised coming into Florida.
Devin Robinson: 25.2 MPG, 48% FG, 38% 3PT, 75% FT, 11.2 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 1.0 BPG, 0.8 SPG
I mention him because long term behind Ingram, we don't have a guy to develop to be a backup SF/SG/PF. Randle and Nance will play most of the front court minutes, but I think we need to develop a backup behind Ingram to replace Luol Deng. Deng's legs are clearly shot and he maybe has a year or two left in his career, despite what his contract says. A former Gator, Corey Brewer, I think can hold down that role next season. But long term, I'd like to develop someone.
He reminds me a lot of Brandon Ingram. Less skill, less basketball IQ, but a lot more athleticism. He has some go go gadget legs. He's added on some bulk to his skinny frame and he's developed his jump shot to where he's making 1.2 3PT makes a game. He's also seen nowhere on mock drafts for some reason. I think if he's there with our Houston pick or our early 2nd round pick, we have to take him.
PS- Malik Monk is good. Really good. If we get the #3 pick, I think he would be my guy.

I can't wait to see this guy in the tournament. He's going to do some electric stuff. Great instincts, and he seems to know what he's going to do with the ball before he even gets it on a fast break or transition play.
0 turnovers? I know Fultz was out but still, this guy is so impressive.

Watching Dennis Smith Jr. for the second time right now ...
He's very talented but will need to be nurtured extremely well to unlock his potential.
If not, he looks to me to be a really good role player (fourth option) on a championship team.
He really needs more seasoning. Either more time in college or a couple of years in the league playing behind an old vet.

Will the Lakers get a chance to pick them, their stats are really good, seems like they will get picked before our pick.

The more I see of Josh Jackson, the more and more he reminds me of Grant Hill.

the stats are good but they are mostly sophomores and older and draft is about getting the youngest talent with most potential, especially in the first round. there are lots of prospects with worst (not that much) numbers but way younger than these guys with more perceived potential. and i havent even mention these dudes (on my list)'s weakness. caleb swaningan for example, is #35 in tankaton's website despite his numbers, but he is a soph who had weight problem in his younger days, and is slow footed on D.
but what the hell, anything can happen come draft time. these are the guys i hope we can get with the pick

oh and one more guy, Jawun Evans looks good too

People may like Fultz more, the way people love Ben more despite Ingram is by far the best prospect in 16, but Lonzo Ball is the guy that we should get at any cost.

Lauri Markkanen put on a shooting clinic against UCLA last night. Amazing stroke.
Bryce Alford and Holiday had the exact opposite going from 2-15 from 3 point range!
Ball got injured but still played his complete game. The team could never get in a rhythm with every three pointer clanking off the rim.

Ingram for me was (and is) better prospect than Simmons.
But Fultz is way, way ahead Ball and its not even close. Lonzo has many liabilities.
Fultz has maybe one? (FT%)
In his age he looks like 3rd or 4th year NBA player. Best backcourt prospect in 21 century (if LJ and Durant doesnt count as SG). He is no brainer. Highest floor, highest ceiling in this draft.
I'll probably take Ball with 3rd pick. Even with his weaknesses. But i still cant understand how is this possible that so many people can have Fultz behind him.

Its crazy how people actually put Ball over Fultz, I dont even put Ball over Jackson.

Re: NCAA College Basketball Thread
Im really liking what I'm seeing from Jayson Tatum. He's onlly shooting 33% from 3 but he's over 86% from the Free Throw line which can translate to better 3 point stroke. He's definitely gotten better as the year has gone on. Him and Ingram could be a really nice 2/3 or 3/4 going forward. Other players I like for rockets pick we have is Dillion Brooks and Jonathan Jeanne.

I think him and Russell would be fantastic together on the offensive end.

. . . with a dab of Stephen Jackson, Eddie Jones, and Latrell Sprewell. Also, although I've written at length about Ball's intangibles, Jackson's to me may be even higher. He gives me a defensive leader-type vibe on the level of Ronnie Lott or Kevin Garnett.
With Jackson on your team, everybody is playing defense a little bit harder. He's the guy that instantly makes this team much, much better.
I wasn't surprised at all to see Kansas lose last week without him.

If anyone would like to join the REALGM March Madness bracket challenge mentioned in the Global Announcement or check my sig for links, it would be great to have some Lakers fans participate.

Markkanen is the one player other than Fultz that I like everytime I watch.
