Jimmy Butler
Check the wire tap I don't put much faith in anonymous sources but it seems like Butler's days in Chicago are coming to an end.

Unless we land the number 1 pick, trading our lottery pick for Butler is something that I'm warming up to the idea of. Let's say Ball or Jackson for Butler. We could follow it up with a trade of Randle, Clarkson and Deng to give us some cap flexibility. This is the type of forward thinking move that could get us Paul George. Plus we'do still have Russell and Ingram if we felt we need to trade for George or support pieces if we sign George.

Re: Jimmy Butler
Why give up the draft pick? I'd rather be patient and sign Paul George when he becomes a free agent.

I see the intrigue in wanted a great player but for how good Jimmy is he's not going to be the best player on a contender. At age 27 they dont need to gut themselves for him.

One has to wonder why the Bulls are trying to dump Butler and why resource rich Boston didn't snag him at the deadline. Danny Ainge is no fool.

Assuming the Lakers keep their top 3 pick, I'd offer anything that doesn't include the top 3 pick or Ingram for Butler or George. If either the top 3 pick or Ingram is a requirement for the Bulls or Pacers then I wouldn't go for it.

Re: Jimmy Butler
Butler is a stud and a cornerstone... Hoiberg has been screwing with their lineups and players are over it... I am not sure what I would offer but I would love to get him... He is a legit player on a reasonable contract... Keep in mind, Randle will get paid soon... Randle at $5.0 million is allot different than Randle at $17.5 million... That being said, I want Ball... A 6'6" pass first great rebounding PG could change everything... I would off Russell & Randle and draft Ball...

I'd give up 1/3 between Russell, Ingram, Top 3 pick.
Then I'd throw in Clarkson to make salaries work and give them another young asset. Also, if it took Randle on top of that to make the deal happen, I'd do it. Randle's extension is looming and for his inconsistent effort level on a game-by-game basis, if he was the straw that broke the camel's back to make the deal happen, I'd absolutely pull the trigger.
Ideally, we'd give up Ingram, Clarkson, Houston pick for Butler. Then you can use Randle as bait to get some depth.
If we traded Ingram, Clarkson, Randle for Butler -- It also improves us from a salary cap perspective. Butler makes about 4M more than Clarkson for another 2 guaranteed seasons. Saves us $12M in the summer of 18 (Randle's cap hold).
If we were to stretch Mozgov, it would give us even more flexibility. Imagine having Ball, Russell, Butler, George plus additional cap space.

Butler played with a decent supporting cast in Chicago this season and they're not even getting in the playoffs...in the east no less. Doubt he can turn things around here. I wouldn't be willing to sacrifice the future for him.

Clarkson, randle, and Houston's first
Or dangelo and mozgov
Or deng and #2 or #3 pick (if we get fultz, we don't trade)
Those would be the old trades for Butler I'd do.
Ingram and fultz should be untouchable. Dangelo only if they take a bad contract (deng/mozgov)

Are we talking about the same Jimmy Butler who plays for the Chicago Bulls or is there another, better, Jimmy Butler that I don't know about? Maybe playing in Eastern Europe or something?

At the moment I'm inclined to agree. Ingram clearly has the talent. He just needs some condiioning and experience. Protein shakes and jump shots all Summer long for that young man.
Zubac has shown potential to be a top 10 center in the NBA and he's being paid peanuts. Why would we want to let that slip through our fingers? Especially when we factor in his age and our lack of quality bigs. It's hard for me to imagine the guy has peaked at 19 years old. Let's keep him around and see what he can do.

So much this... ^^^^^^^
Add to that he didn't attract any quality free agents to the Bulls either. Unless of course one considers a washed up Dwyane Wade a quality free agent.

I'm from Chicago, and no they don't have a decent supporting cast, and they have what most people say the worst coach and management in the league. The Bulls are a cheap and inept franchise that sabotaged Thibs and ran him out of town to replace him with a college coach that is clearly in over his head. And not landing a star is hardly on Butler if you considered their last big name FA signing was Carlos Boozer. Jimmy Butler is an outstanding player, I'd say back end of top 10. I mean his W/S is 12.1 (4th in NBA), BPM is 6.7 (10th in the NBA), VOP is 5.6 (6th in the NBA).
Having said that, I wouldn't offer a top 3 pick nor Ingram for that, but if there's a way to acquire that without the pick or Ingram then you'd have to explore that. Realistically, I think Boston will cave in an offer the Bulls a package that would include their Nets pick.

Re: Jimmy Butler
Butler isnt good enough to be the best player on a title team, and at his age if you're trading assets/value for him, it has to be with a solid short term plan to acquire someone better than him afterwards.
Does trading for Butler greatly increase the chance of signing someone like Westbrook or Cousins next offseason? If so that's the only way you make a move. It's the new front office's job to answer that question ahead of time by using their connections. Mitch's inability to do this is what he got criticized for by Jeanie/Magic.

Good post ^
The Nets pick is a favorite to be #1 overall? If I'm the Bulls GM and I can turn Jimmy Butler into Markelle Fultz I'd start making room on my mantle for my GM of the year trophy.

Re: Jimmy Butler
Lakers should be interested in Jimmy Butler and Paul George.. Obviously would gladly trade Randle, Clarkson, and Houston's first round pick for Jimmy and try to sign Paul George in 2018. If need be would be willing to include D'Angelo Russell in the deal only if the Laker's have a top 2 pick this year though

Re: Jimmy Butler
Jeannie said something yesterday that it would break her heart if the Lakers don't have an all star next year when the game is in LA. So I fully expect us to overpay for Butler, I only hope either Boston, Denver or Phoenix out bid us.
