Carmelo Anthony...

Posted a trade possibility and justified it in the other forum, want laker fans take on it..
Lakers probably are one of the destinations Melo would sign off on. All small market teams can probably forget about it. A Melo signing is how a Deng/Mozgov contract can be an asset to bridge salary gaps.
Houston 1st, Clarkson and Mozgov for Melo.
For Lakers: Solves dumping Mozgov who we'd have for 2 years anyway(melos contract). Doesn't hurt our cap space(after trading Clarkson)...so potentially we could still pursue George and Cousins in summer 2018 after assessing Ingram/Russell's progress.. Melo is a big name...puts butts in seats...sell Melo on the plan of getting PG/Cousins in free agency to possibly be a contender...but offer no guarantees. I think Melo will love Magic Johnson at the helm and Luke as coach. But Melo and Luke would need to come to an understanding on what Lakers Basketball with him will be. With Nick Young most likely gone, Lou Williams gone, and Clarkson, I think it's actually ok to add Melo...it won't take away touches from D'angelo and Ingram. Also Melo gets put on minutes restriction to say 28-30 a game or less which will help reinforce that idea that he won't stunt the lakers youth...we tell him we don't want you to get injured like Kobe. Plausible Lakers 2018 lineup:
Russell / Ball(or Fultz)
Melo
Zubac
Randle
Ingram
Lakers 2019
Russell / Ball(or Fultz)
Melo / Nwaba
Cousins / Zubac
Ingram / Randle(used to dump Deng)
Paul George / Larry nance
After 2019 Melo comes off the books, so we'll still be able to resign our young guys to better contracts. But hopefully 2019 leads to a ring, so Melo leaves the Lakers on very good terms as Ingram, Russell, Cousins, and George keep winning titles.
For Knicks: You are free of Melo and get a nice young combo guard that can score like Melo for 1/3 of the price. Play your cards right, that Houston 1st becomes a great asset to build around as well. You have to rent Mozgov for 2 years but less of an albatross contract in Melo but that's the only way we do the deal. Moz should be easier to move after next season. You will build in the draft to gain assets like the Lakers had to. Then you will be in a position to make big boy moves.
