Re: Magic saids lakers will keep the pick
Talk about 30 seconds I'll never get back. What a useless article.
Luke went on some dumb show and joked that Magic promised him they will get their lotto pick. That's the article. By "keep" the pick, the writer means they are going to 'get' it. Misleading, and all based on some joking comment from Luke.
Let's just hope we get the pick. Don't worry about what we do with it. People arguing about what your gonna do with your lottery winnings before you even know you have a winning ticket.
Here's a good argument for you all: Let's say we get the 5th or 6th pick......should we package it with the Houston pick and try to trade up??

Ask yourself if I was being sarcastic. It's a 50/50....much like our chances of "keeping the pick"
....oops, I think I just gave it away

Or we can talk up the new collective bargaining agreement that Magic and Rob are conspiring for with Silver that helps bring back the advantage to big market teams.

How does that make you better than the Lin, Gallo, and Wil fans who root for them over NY?

Everything Magic touched in his life has turned to gold, so I can't fault a guy for feeling a bit overconfident here.

Re: Magic saids lakers will keep the pick
Only way we keep a 5th or 6th pick is if we do a trade with Philly and they remove the protection... Is that what you think Luke and Magic were hinting at? Seems like a pretty big stretch to me, but it is the kind of deal I can sort of see Magic doing...
One would think however, that we'd have to really trade them something special to get them to do that, but who knows...

Re: Magic saids lakers will keep the pick
Who is Magic Johnson to say whether the Fakers will keep the pick or not. It's not up to him, it's up to the numbers. For all we know, the 76ers can score the first pick, then Celtics, then the Suns, giving the lakers pick to the 76ers.
I honestly love when lakers fans make threads like this. It's more entertaining when their hopes are high just to have the hearts ripped out by the more superior and smarter 76ers franchise.
You just got another warning for maybe the dumbest, most pointless bait post I've ever seen. Congrats

Re: Magic saids lakers will keep the pick
Guys.....the 5th / 6th pick comment was sarcasm. My point was, it doesn't matter if you think we should keep or trade the lottery pick, since we don't have it. Much like arguing what to do with the 5th or 6th pick. Once we get the lotto pick (if we do) THEN we can start arguing over the merits of trading or keeping it.
Sarcasm doesn't typically translate to print very well.....my bad.

When is the league allowed to start trading again? I assumed it cant be till after the finals which would be after the lottery. I think its impossible to make a removing protection trade right now.

Teams are allowed to make trades as soon as their season is over. Only restriction is they can't include players that will or can become free agents.
