Hmmm... that will effect your shot. Wonder if it had anything to do with the strength and conditioning coach leaving?

It was going to be a tough task to trade him before this.
Now it will be nearly impossible.

Hopefully Deng can translate into more of a post player? I don't know...he had a horrible season and that contract is just...blegh.

Deng playing post is like Kobe coaching AAU basketball. Not happening

Only way to get your monies worth on this contract is move him to the four. In Miami he flourished at that position.

I know now that we won't be getting anyone good now thanks to his and Mozgov's contracts.

Because he played in the East, the 4 between the east and west is very different.

Re: Deng surgery
There's actually some compelling statistical evidence that Deng wasn't as bad as he was made out to be last year. His defense is still pretty damn good, as the Lakers DRTG was 111.2 with him on the court and 114.7 off. He's also still a good corner 3 point shooter, which is an incredibly important shot for floor spacing. He shot 38.6% on corner 3s last year. I wouldn't be opposed to the Lakers trying to play him back into value at the 4 next season.
Numbers rule the universe.

Deng should be playing the 4. He's still rather productive there on both ends.

Hold on a second here....
emotional kids? Come on now. The guy straight up sucked. Im sorry....but we just paid $18 mil for 7.6 ppg, and 5.3 rebounds, and 10.13 PER, and we're "emotional kids"?
The Lakers ended the season in last place...with a 113.71 DRTG. For the record, 111.2 DRTG is one basket less per 100 possessions from the other team. I'm not sure that justifies his price-tag.
By the way.......this is prob the best year out of the 4 we get from him, right? He's not getting any younger.
We spent about $35 mil per year on Deng/Moz....and we were the 2nd or 3rd worst team in the NBA when we benched them. You can put lipstick on that pig in any way you want....but that's the truth. Those guys brought almost NOTHING to this team. We were the 2nd worst team last year...and thats about right where we were when those 2 sat.
If we spend $35 mil on PG next year.....you expect us to be wallowing in a bottom 3-4th spot???
Exactly.....
It was money poorly spent on guys past it, who didn't contribute NEARLY what their price tag commanded. Nobody is emotional. They were super-poor signings. Simple as

Well, the Lakers played Deng at the 3 a lot last year, when he's significantly more effective at the 4 at this point in his career. In addition, Clarkson had a massive net negative impact on his numbers.
Numbers rule the universe.

Post of the week! Couldn't agree more. Laker fans trying to say they contributed this season are clearly casuals to the game of basketball.

Re: Deng surgery
I can't believe people with 20/20 vision or near of are trying to justify this Luol Deng signing lmao. The man has been complete garbage all season and is getting paid 18 mil a year to do be a "veteran 3&D presence" but he's shooting 31% from 3 and 39% from the floor. These numbers won't get better.
