Re: Josh Hart With No. 30 Pick
Can someone explain to me how we ended up with the 30th pick? I'm confused how we got Utah's pick?
Nevermind, I didn't know we traded 28 for 30 and 42. Under rated trade as we probably would have taken Hart with 28 anyway

Josh Hart taking about his first year and wanting to become defensive stopper. Good read as we wait for the preseason to start.

Impressed with this kid tonight. Lakers did work in the first round this year.

Re: Josh Hart With No. 30 Pick
Hart plays like a 4 year college guy. His fundamental game is pretty complete and he knows how to play the game. Give him a little confidence and he'll be a good rotational player. Maybe we saw something tonight with Clarkson playing the point with Hart at the 2. Maybe it was an anomaly but they worked great together tonight anyway.

That's just what I was hoping for from Hart. Energy, hustle, speed and aggression. Ship out JC as soon as Ingram's offense solidifies.
NBA titles since the merger: LAL 11, CHI 6, SAS 5, BOS 5, GSW 4.

Re: Josh Hart With No. 30 Pick
I really like this kid. Kuzma has stolen all the headlines as the low pick giving us the goodies, but Hart is quietly playing really well and earning more and more minutes.
He defends really well and can shoot it at a high rate, good role player to have for the future.

Yeah, indeed. I love his game and attitude. He's just not gonna let anyone by him, and then he attacks on the break.

Hmmm.... another guy who wasn't 1 and done.... Maybe there something to developing your game at the development level after all.
I like Hart's effort and he's very fundamentally sound. He's got some grit to his game. Not sure he can be a consistent front line performer at this level but he certainly can be a valuable bench guy. He brings everything KCP does so far. It is a very small sample however.

Ya I just hope they keep him healthy but love his finishing around the basket, even his shot looks good and was a good shooter at college. With that said, I think he is even better than KCP at defense. Or will be soon. KCP gambling way too much out there. Making it harder for team when it doesn't pay off.

Wow, maybe you should have taken him with the second pick.

You could tell he's getting more comfortable out there. Jason had been impressive as of late.

Re: Josh Hart With No. 30 Pick
right now he's earning playing time mainly based on intillegence and effort.....hopefully by next year he has improved his finishing at the basket (does a good job getting there...terrible job finishing...just based of the eye test), and made his shot more consistent.
If we have a mini "super team" next year, with KCP gone, I wouldn't be surprised if Hart is considered for a starting spot at the 2 considering how Luke likes his defensive guys as starters. If we have PG and Ingram, (not even gonna go there with Lebron), our options would either be starting a 3 and D guy at the 2 (and have PG and Ingram play the 3&4), or play those two at the 2/3 and start Kuz. In this hypothetical if we strike out on cousins, I could see Randle being the starting 5 (or Larry), and our bench would be really thin. Wouldn't be surprised if Luke has Kuz/Clarkson playing near 30 minutes each off the bench with a player like Hart getting 20-24 minutes while starting. Really seems like a Luke move...just like how today he started Hart instead of moving Ingram to the 2 and throwing Kuz in there, or bumping Clarkson up. Good or bad, Luke has a formula when it comes to his rotations. It's clear that he style isn't "start the best guy in the position". A scoring combo guard like Clarkson would probably be off the bench in the majority of NBA teams, because that's the role he thrives in. However, other coaches would certainly go with the BPA regarding other players, such as Kuz or Randle. Larry starting for this long is very unique imo, for good or bad, and I don't think it's about Larry or Kuz/Randle...it's more about Luke's formula, and to me, an Ingram/GEorge/Kuz lineup at the 2-4 doesn't fit in that formula too well. again...not saying I would do the same thing if i was the coach....just saying it's a real possibility if we enter next season with additional forwards added without any significant guard aquisitions.
Whoever said Courtney Lee...that's a good comparison. He has a way to go in terms of his shooting (and Lee always had atleast some form of a midrange/floater game...Hart needs to work on that as well).
overall, i see him as a 5th best starter (A Rubinson type in a loaded lineup), or a key rotation bench player. Hard to see him becoming anything more than that, but I love the hustle/smarts he plays with. He's really like a guard version of Nance. You need players like that in your rotation.

Re: Josh Hart With No. 30 Pick
1-2 punch of Kuz and Hart coming off the bench would be decent if the Lakers tried to get rid of Deng's contract tying him with JC.
