It's only a bad decision if Russell realizes the loftiest of expectations. Time will tell.

The Dallas quote was in 2014.
The Chicago quote was talking about Rondo, Butler, Wade and MCW.

The right attitude Rondo at $2.4 million would be a steal.

I'm fine with rondo on a one year deal

Backup pg
USA Celtics in full effect. Amazing chemistry building experience right there for the main core of the team

Proceeds to finish 7th and shames the entire nation!

Did Magic sign Mozgov to a 4 year contract at 12:01?
Did Magic sign Deng to another 4 year contract?
Did Magic extend a 2nd round pick for 4 years?

He said he was going to add supporting pieces that will not impact 2018 summer salary cap space. He then reached out to Iguodala, Rondo and possibly McLemore. All 3 would be a year, supporting pieces. I know Rondo is the most cringe worthy piece. However, the team has to do their due diligence, no?

Lets talk about Rondo.

I know he is known as an empty stat guy and one that is not shy about voicing his opinion. That said, Rondo is (these are facts!):

- 4 time All-Star
- 4 time All-Defense
- Led league in assist 3 times
- Led league in steal 1 time
- Won a championship with Celtics

I know Rondo is not liked by all. I know Rondo had so little value that no team wanted to trade him and the Bulls waived him. I see that and Magic sees that. An ex All-Star, All-Defense guy is valued at rock bottom. This is why the call is needed. We could see what he is made of and sign him to something very favorable to the Lakers. He could be a key piece with team friendly terms in building a great team for such a cheap price. Why should we not try? If he is worthless, or an addition by subtraction as they say, then we can always cut him and not lose much.

Who is dumb for calling or not calling Rondo?

No... Just No.......

As long as Magic and Rob Lowe don't hand out out more than 1 year contracts who cares who they sign? I'm in the "why the check do we trade Russel for 50¢ on the dollar" camp but fine with Rondo on a 1 year. He couldn't be worse than Deng.

I know magic said that we wouldn't be major players this summer ... but I didnt think we would not be in it at all?!?

Sixers FO are kicking Magics butt right now... Looks like they are rolling out the same play book as us-- protecting 2018 Cap -- but have still made some nice moves this summer regardless.

The JJ acquisition jumps off the page with his one year deal in Philly. He would have been a nice get for us playing alongside Zo...

Like I've said on other threads. If we are pretty much rolling with our current roster.. it's going to take some big jumps by Randle,Ingram,Clarkson to avoid having another top 3 lottery seasons.. Zo would also need to come into the league without having a "typical" rookie season -- and start scorching teams from day one... Otherwise, it's going to HURT watching our pick convey a top 2 pick next summer...

Come on Magic.. mix it up a bit and get in there.. no dumb moves but our roster needs more help next year

Tony Allen? I would jump through the roof of joy if that happened. What a perfect mentor for Nwaba on the defensive end. And what a defender he is. Plus, it would be such a luxury to be able to put Allen on the floor.

Too old for me and a career 28% 3 point shooter.

That's cool. Not too old to teach Nwaba.

Ever watched the defensive end of the floor? That's obviously why anyone would want him. He's a defender of rank. Going after a bulldog defender because of his shooting wouldn't be the reason. Not sure I understand the logic of criticizing the shooting when looking at a player like him.

Penciled in to be the worst team in the West + without a draft pick and pray Paul George will look beyond the terrible season record.

I'm trying to be optimistic but it's not looking good.

We could have added George Hill, Waiters then added PG next year. We would become a decent team this year, possibly a playoff contender. Then next year with PG we would be a #4 to #6 team in the west which would be our ceiling.

Or

We could waste a year and let our youngsters grow. Save our cap space (thanks Jim and Mitch) then look to add 2 REAL MAX guys in 2018 summer when others do not have the money or cap space to compete.

Do you want instant but limited gratification this year or do you want for the FO to swing for the fences? All these good players that are signing to MAX or near max deals are going to haunt all the teams. The Lakers are waiting for real star players to give the max to.
