So where are the points coming from this year?

Post#1 » by danfantastk32 » Fri Jul 7, 2017 6:36 am

All in all....I'm pretty happy with the offseason. It looks like our young guys (JC, Randle, Ingram, Big-Zu, Nance) have been hitting the gym, and have been working on their game alot. I am pretty happy with the drafting we've done.

BUT.....we did lose Lou-Will, Young, and DLO. <------ kinda feels like we lost our scoring (especially our deep threat). So, where do we get that back from?

I hope Ingram picks it up, and starts hitting. That'll help for sure. I think Lopez will bring some scoring.

Anyone know our draftees? I'm not well versed in College B-Ball. I'm just kinda curious (and a little worried, tbh) where our scoring comes from this year.

Any thoughts?

Bropez is good for 20ppg especially at the pace we project to play at. Randle might improve his scoring and get more touches, JC will get some but yeah unless Ingram shows something new, we could use some additional scoring.

I think we'll be okay scoring wise.
Between Lonzo's play-making and Lopez's ability to stretch the floor as a 5, and Randle's ability to penetrate and go the hole, and Ingram continuing to get his offensive game honed in, we'll score enough.
And we'll have a good second unit too offensively speaking.

I'd like to see us make strides on the defensive end.

I'm more worried of our spacing this year. We can't rely on Brook Lopez to be the one doing that.

Lopez...and I wouldn't be surprised if clarkson leads the team in scoring albeit in a very inefficient way

Randle and Ingram will likely lead the way.

I'll put a dark-horse bid in on Vander Blue.

I can see BroLo easily averaging 22+ ppg, hopefully Ingram increases his % and attempts a bit.

I don't see this at all. He's just not going to play the minutes. Nance/Randle will have to play minutes at that position and you're not playing Zubac together with Lopez.

I see the PF/C minutes like this:

PF: Randle [22]/ Nance [26]
C: Lopez [25]/ Randle [10]/ Zubac [13]

Can Lopez score 22 points in 25 minutes? I don't think so. I think he'll be around 16-17 PPG.

Jordan Clarkson, Kuzma could be a sleeper.

Ball, Ingram, Randle and Lopez can all score double digits... I think Ingram will be our go-to offensive option by Christmas, Randle and Lopez will feed off of each other and be our second tier scorers together... And when needed Ball will contribute increasingly as the season goes on... Realistically, it'll probably be next year before Ball's a legit accomplished scorer though... And we'll still have either JC or someone else there to contribute as well...

I don't really think scoring will be the issue. Stops are going to be critical for our offense, especially Ball... So Defense is a primary concern IMO.

We will rely on Ball, Luke and Magic designing a high octane offense.

Lopez will get 18 to 20 I'd think. Clarkson could get 16-18 with more time and a better approach. Don't have a clue about Ball yet but a young rookie getting more than 12 or so initially might be tough. Ingram might get 15 and Randle 15. After that it's a lot of question marks.

Kind of obvious to me. Randle, Ingram, Clarkson, and Lopez. All these players are capable of 20point+ games on any given night.

One of our biggest issues last year was our inconsistency.. Dlo or Randle would go for 20 one game and follow it up with 6 the next... This killed us game to game. Brook being able to provide a consistent 20 PPG will be huge for us. As for the other points.. for us to have a shot at a decent season we are going to need to see HUGE improvements from Randle and Ingram. If Ingram dominates SL like he should then that's a good sign.. if he struggles and goes 4/10 .. then we are in for a long season...

Expecting much from Lonzo next year is a reach. Though I'm hoping for it... But past rookie seasons indicate that he will struggle to adapt at first. With that said.. his tempo and passing should easily translate.. it's his scoring that may be a concern..

Ingram and Lopez i suspect. Clarkson and Randle also better step up or they should be traded by deadline. No more excuses for them, they need to prove their worth and not be just be there like they were last year (Randle went backwards ffs). Hart i think is promising in that he could contribute off the bench. Either way i don't think we're going to be very good offensively.
