Despite the poor performance I'm much more optimistic after his first summer league game compared to Russel's a couple years go. With Russel you saw his limited athleticism and lacking the ability to be a floor general right away. At least with Lonzo his quickness an athleticism is not a question (which I sorted did before the draft) and showed first hand that he's a point guard through & through.

The rest of Lonzo's flaws at least can be improved with over time. I believe he just needs to get used to NBA three point range because he's shown to be a good shooter from the college three. His terrible defense is only the real concern. Even though he's a rookie he'll need significant improvement in that area. Getting burned by Kendall Marshall of all people isn't going to cut it.

It was one Summer League game. I wouldn't start worrying yet Lakers fans. Right now all the hot takes is just overreaction.
