How much sense does rondo make right now?

Lakers need someone to backup lonzo at pg. with Clarkson looking like he is set for the 6th man role, who can be that steady veteran pg for the rookie?
How about rondo?
He hasn't been good in a while. Be he is still a great passer and a plus defender (right?). He was the heart and sole of the bulls near upset of the Celtics because he totally eleimanted the Celtics best player (IT)
He isn't a great shooter, but we know that.
I'm not sure who is out there that can do a better job as the backup pg/spot starter than rondo right now.

Rondo with the MLE.
Hope to have Nwaba clear waiver and then re-sign him.
Lastly, add Caruso + another player to the 2 way contract if they perform well in camp.

I would like Rondo in a Lakers uniform,
Just to see Rondo in a Lakers uniform.
Would be surreal.

I'll give it all of 10 games before Rondo is clamoring to start over Ball.

It's our best option at this point. Or is it? I've always been a fan of Rondos game. But, he doesn't fit the system at all though, he's the exact opposite of what we want in a PG, for that reason I think the deal doesn't get done. I've been up and down over signing Rondo, but I think we'd be better off going for Deron Williams or just waiting to see what other options become available.

Get him, he was a TOP 5 PG in the early 2010s, he can really help Ball and our team IF he is willing to come off the bench and play 20-25 mins per game.

If the FO including Luke thinks Rondo wont mesh well, then I am fine with passing on Rondo and giving those minutes to Ennis and Caruso. That said, if Rondo is willing to take a backseat and help mentor Lonzo, a strong veteran point guard would help while bringing Caruso slowly as a 2 way player.
In fact, if we can add vets like Lopez, KCP and Rondo, the Lakers could really fight for that last spot in the playoffs although we most likely miss out. The experience would be great for the team to drive them further for the future.

It'll only be for one year, so if he wants to bitch and complain about playing time/starting. Ok then you aren't coming back or we'll limit your time/starting job until you behave lol

I like Rondo for the vet minimum. If we give him and he accepts the mle, it has to be five years right?
We don't want that and I doubt he would want to start for a year and then backup ball for the rest of his contract.

MLE are usually contracts up to 2-4 years depending on cap status of each team. That said, I think the team could sign him to one year if they like.
Rondo at MLE would be good but he HAS to understand his role as a mentor to Ball and a good presence in the club.

It's the risk-reward thing, for me. What's the reward? And it's an ex-Celtic??
I pass. I will be fair and say that I've heard a couple guys on radio swear by him. Still gonna pass.

For a year and by accepting the back up vet PG role I'm fine with Rondo.
I always liked how he played the game even when he was still a Celtic.
One more thing I liked about Rondo is that he's not a push over. You can't mess with him because he won't backdown and he's gonna fight back. I like to have someone like that in my team. You know, the likes of Metta and Matt Barnes. Randle was like that too and having Rondo would be fun in that aspect.

Can't wait until he causes issues with the coaching staff because he isn't getting the minutes he wants.

At this point, I'm not sure we need another guard... Unless we have a trade in place for Clarkson, we're kind of loaded at that position. And judging from how bad Zubac has looked so far in SL... We may need a backup C more than Rondo.
I like Rondo though... I think he's under-rated. But still I just don't see the need right now. Only way it makes sense is if they don't think Ball is quite ready to lead the team for a full season right now, and they want some insurance... AND they have a trade in mind for Clarkson.

rondos still a good player IF you let him have full control of the offense. to me, thats not worth it. and all the reports of him being a locker room cancer havent fallen onto deaf ears
hard to see rondo sucking it up and playing behind a rookie all season. but if he is finally self-aware and ready to be a "team player", then sure, give him a shot.

Keep in mind that we don't have a single player on the roster that shot above league average from 3 last year. Our best shooter is our Center. Our offense is going to be tough to watch at times and I don't see how Rondo will help in that department.

Rondo off the bench will help our floor and i don't want us giving Celtics or Sixers a high draft pick.

Who is going to run the offense when ball is on the bench?
Clarkson?
There isn't many creators on this team (ball/Ingram/Randle).
I really think we need a backup vet pg. badly. It's lonzo and that's it right now. Agree that backup center is also a issue. And preferably a defensive big
