Julius Randle Jordan Clarkson comments on Lonzo Ball
I noticed during Interviews Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle refer to Lonzo as a "kid". Normally I don't see nothing wrong about it, but Julius Randle is 22 years old and JC is only 25 years old, why are they calling him a kid when Magic gave the keys to the franchise to run it?
Are they putting him in his place? Is it jealousy? Is it status quo to let them know he they're the big dogs? I don't know how I feel about that but I do find it a little arrogant of them to refer to him when they have not done anything in the league yet.
During yesterday's game coach Luke called Lonzo a "young man", sort of him giving him his props because he is going to run this team?
Am I thinking too much into it? Love to hear your responses. Peace.

Kid...young man...either one fits for his age. "Kid" isn't even a derogatory term. Overthinking it in my opinion.
edit to below: No, I don't. I agree with the other posters below kid is just the general term to refer to rookies

You don't find it odd that kids are calling kids kids?

I think you're overthinking things. Kid has essentially become a buzzword for anyone coming out of college. Just about everyone in the media refers to him as a kid; Julius and Jordan are likely piggy backing off what's in the media. I would guess Jordan and Julius aren't even conscious of the fact that they're calling someone very close to their age a kid.

That is what you say about rookies no matter how good they are. Completely normal.

And regardless of whether or not you are given the keys to the kingdom, rookies have to pay their dues.
Nothing is given and everything is earned. After summer league, you go back to square 1. Especially when training camp starts.

Hope this "kid" can make these "scrubs" look good on the floor. Gonna want to trade Randle before he's due for his big payday and Clarkson to get his ass off our cap.

yes you are, even Luke called him a kid before he backtracked and called him a young man in the context of what he was talking about.

Yesterday, on espn Luke corrected himself on air quote "This kid, excuse me young man" He said that for real.

Re: Julius Randle Jordan Clarkson comments on Lonzo Ball
2 years in the NBA is a looooong time. I got no problem with calling him a kid. What Ball will learn by the All Star break will eclipse everything he's done in BB since he started shooting at the playschool hoop.
What's the implication? That they are somehow jealous or lack respect for him because they called him a kid?

Re: Julius Randle Jordan Clarkson comments on Lonzo Ball
Luke Walton called him a kid then goes "excuse me, young man." Luke treats his players like men not little boys. As for Jules and Clarkson, they are considered NBA "vets" and to call him a kid is part of the hazing that they do to all rooks. I'm sure when they were rooks they were called kids too.

Julius Randle Jordan Clarkson praise Lonzo Ball
I noticed during Interviews Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle refer to Lonzo as "Kidd". Normally I would find it a little strange to refer to a current player by the name of a former player, but the similarities are strong enough that it makes sense.
I guess there you have it, Lonzo Ball IS Jason Kidd.

Re: Julius Randle Jordan Clarkson praise Lonzo Ball
You sure they didn't call him kid because he's youngest on the team or something? Just a way to remind him he's still the rookie. leadership at it's finest.

I was just messing around. There was a thread where the OP was saying Ball was being disprespecrd by being called "Kid" by teammates. I was joking that they were actually calling him "Kidd"
