The Los Angeles Lakers captured their Las Vegas Summer League championship in no small part because of the hot shooting of undrafted rookie Matt Thomas. Thomas averaged 9.6 points per game while shooting 60% from deep on 3.5 attempts per game.

The Lakers awarded Alex Caruso with one of their two two-way contracts, but their second won’t be going to the sharpshooter out of Iowa State. Thomas has signed a one-year contract to play overseas for Liga ACB team Obradoiro, reports Sportando. Terms of the contract were not immediately available.

This was a good decision for him. I'm not sure he's really that crazy-good from deep. If he was....why's he scrapping for a roster spot? He played well.....got some time in the lime-light, and really made the most of it.

Truth is...the league is rife with these guys. They hit some shots here or there...get signed, but end up deep deep bench. Get tossed in here or there, and miss their shots, and get called bums. Fans wonder why they even got signed. It's hard riding pine for 16 straight games, and then get thrown in down by 12-15 points.

This way, he'll get real minutes on the floor. He'll be playing lesser talent, and it will make him look all the better. This was a smart career move.

it's a good move for him. most of the fans are on his nutsa*k now because of his sl performance but that dude couldn't last a minute in an actual NBA game that is for sure. i appreciated what he did in our SL team tho
