Lakers Sign Wear to Exhibit 10 Contract

Lakers Sign Wear to Exhibit 10 Contract.

Exhibit 10 contract allows the Lakers to sign Wear to a training camp roster that can be converted to a 2-way contract. Wear has played well in the summer knocking down some outside shot and some 3 point shoots too. I know this is a weird pick as we were looking for PG help but with Ennis and Caruso doing a good job, I think they wanted more options especially with some potential trades down the line. This is good insurance at the SF, PF and C position for the Lakers as Wear stands 6'10" and can play multiple position while extending the defense with his improving 3 point shot.

I feel like I watched every preseason game, and some parts twice. The name kinda rings a bell...but I don't remember this guy at all.

Was he even on our team for preseason? Feel like we're a little thick in the PF department.

Whatever....welcome aboard Travis!

i feel for blue

but caruso proved he wasn't needed

also, i read that we signed wear, then waived him, so he could get additional 50k, and he was locked onto the south bay lakers this season for the 2-way contract

anyone know more of this?

I would rather give wear a shot at sf than keep Caruso if that change is even possible

Just no

Wear is not a NBA player. I just don't see it. Even in a league where range is a premium, he brings nothing else

I watched him a lot at ucla and never once said, "hey, that guy is a NBA player"

So did I. At UCLA as a PF, he really didn't show anything that said "I belong in the NBA". This has more to do with cost/reward in terms of developing a wing with shooting and size v.s a 3rd string level PG that is slightly above average defensively.

I'm not really for developing 3rd string young guys either right now, but a pg is way WAY more vital right now than

Lakers have very little pg experience on the roster and are looking at running lonzo out there 30+ mins a night

Lakers have way too many pfs and big men, a veteran floor general is really a priority

I thought the Wear twins would make better volleyball players than basketball players when I watched them at UCLA. They were super hyped coming out of Mater Dei and going to Chapel Hill. Softies like most of the MD cats!

We need Caruso, especially if Ball doesn't meet expectations.

Lakers are not playing for right now though. PG is the 2nd most stacked position on the FA market (with C being #1). You can probably sign a Darren Collison type for market value next off-season if you think Clarkson/Ennis aren't enough. Short of becoming a 38% 3pt shooter, there really isn't any long-term upside for keeping Caruso around, even if he plays the next decade on the minimum for the Lakers. Wear as a cheap, 6'9 wing who can shoot would be enormous for the long-term cap situation.

Too late for that now.
