Ingram thread

Post#1 » by RingsDontLie » Wed Nov 15, 2017 7:06 am

Here me out first. Last season Ingram I thought ended on a high note with this spectacular dunk:

I thought I was going to see more of this, this season right?

Now I don't know if he even looks to dunk and really go up strong. The guys looks to lay it up most of the time. Like why is he playing so soft as of late. He was postering guys every other game in the 2nd half of the season last year. Now he's decided it's the 1950s where you must lay it up? I don't know where the fierceness went from last season. Did something happen?

I just don't get it. Is it the whole Bob Marley dreads, laid back mode, because if it is, I think he needs a wake up call. You can tell he didn't train with Kobe, because he attacks like a teddy bear, not like a mamba. The fact he didn't train with Kobe, makes me question if he really wants to be the best.

I feel like Ingram is still dunking. Dunking and attacking, and creating contact.

Not saying your wrong...I have no stats, but I disagree with the basic premise. IMO he's playing pretty much the same as last year.

As for the Kobe thing.....who really knows? Did schedule conflict? Did they not see eye to eye....who knows? If I were Ingram, I'd certainly worry about gaining weight first. Go hit up Kobe in 2-3 years when your ready to really, REALLY refine some nuances of the game. Don't hire the guy (im sure he's really, super NOT cheap) to bust your arse a 4am cause he's this psycho who actually enjoys 200- mile bike rides from OC to San Diego and back in the middle of the night.

Ingram is still pretty thin......but I'll give the guy that he has no issue taking it to the hole, and initiating contact. I'd actually rather see him stop doing that so much. That seems to be the recipe for shoulder surgery about year 5-6-7 of your career. He needs to start trusting his outside shot more, and use it.

Dude it's 1am, let the old men sleep in early.

He's had some nice little dunks though. But there have been quite a few plays that have cost him because he went up too soft. There was literally a play on the break where he decided to finesse it, and lay it up, and because he decided to not throw it down, he was blocked.

You just called me a cute woman. That's cute.

I don't expect him to be Kobe mentally, I expect him to have that fire he had at the end of last season carry over. But from what Luke has said about Ingram, he is a lot like Kobe in his work ethic.

Lol. If only Ingram had that fire you showed right now, I wouldn't have to create this thread.

Real reason I was banned from GB is because I'm not on LBJ's nuts like everyone else over there.

So starting a thread called "Which NBA players you have romantic connection to" was not a problem?

According to basketball reference, Brandon Ingram had 30 dunks last year in 2279 minutes compared to the 12 dunks he made in 468 minutes this year. So he's dunking about twice as often this year thus far
He does get to the rim more often, so the discrepancy between last year's layup/dunk ratio isn't big, but would be weird to expect him to dunk everything.

Looking at his stats it really pops out that he's nearly half of his FGA are from midrange, while he's converting them really poorly. Perhaps he should have a little less of the Mamba midrange mentality.

His game lacks fluidity, I hope he gets better with experience.

WTH? His game is all fluidity... That's part of the problem. He doesn't just shoot the damn ball anymore... He tries to make 39 fluid moves to break his guy down to the basket that don't work.

He needs to realize that he's so damn lanky, when hes jab stepping and spinning you can stay in one spot and still be in front of him... It's like standing in front of a bunch of spaghetti blowing in the wind. Weird metaphor I know... But that's what it looks like.

Still giving Ingram time. His frame is still skinny, I wanna see what this kid can do when he gets to be like a Giannis built. Giannis wasn't that great his 2nd year as well.

If he could add some muscle I think he would be very good at posting up. Luke already gives him some iso plays for him at the perimeter. If he can add a post up game it would make him so much better and give him a chance to bang at the low post.

Yes. If he just adds even 5 lbs of muscle (and the strength from that little bit) this will do wonders for his game

Heavy minutes, 10.5 PER. Still can't shoot or hit free throws. ISO's and drives to the rim most of the time he gets the ball which isn't part of the offensive system. Has way too many games where he disappears. He's really not giving much to be hopeful about at this juncture. Further concerns are the lack of great games young players flash everyonce in a while. Ingram's strength is to score the ball but in 90+ games his career highs are 22 and 25 points. Not good even for a young player.
