Love what I heard from Kuzma in that PT clip. That dude just gets it. You can see the Lakers Org is using him in a lot of these marketing opportunities cause Lonzo can't express himself as good as Kuz.

Nohomo, but this makes my heart melt. Fell in love with the game because of these two players... MJ first, then Kobe.

I had my beefs with Kobe over the years, mainly down to his playing style. But we'll be incredibly lucky if any of our future stars have half his work ethic, commitment and sheer will to win. I might have complained about his shot totals, but I never had any doubt that he was giving us absolutely everything he had. As a fan, you can't really ask for much more than that.

I'm so happy they are retiring both his numbers. I'm ready to shed a tear when I see them reveal them in the rafters.

Ahhhh...so here we are. This is the third to last major notable day for Kobe's basketball life. We surely have a statue presentation and a HOF speech to look forward to, but I wouldn't be surprised if Kobe really fades away from the basketball community when those things are done. He's been very MIA since retiring, both in terms of attending/involvement in the Lakers, and regarding media appearences as an analyst etc. Not fully off the grid like TD, but also definitely not as involved as Shaq and KG.

Anyways, well deserved. I'm glad he'll hold this special feat with two numbers as well. When Shaq is getting his jersey retired in the same timeline AND getting a statue (Jersey obviously well deserved, Statue can be debated due to his exit and playing for the Celtics, but classy act by the FO for giving it to him and you can't argue what he did for the franchise), I'm glad there's a special feat that's making Kobe stand out in Laker history. Whether you agree or disagree that Shaq deserved a statue, it's hard to argue that Kobe deserves to be immortalized in Laker history on a higher level than anyone other Magic and Jerry West. West and Magic were involved with the team in an official manner far after their retirements, which is hard to see Kobe to do, so it's nice to see him have this.

Also, I just realized, 08/24 is a day after Kobe's birthday.....what a crazy awesome coincidence that would have been.

I'm proposing 8/24 as national Kobe day in Los Angeles.

Kobe the Man. King KOBE

He bought us Excitement he bought staples center excitement. my favorite basketball player to watch. I got to see him Game 7 against Portland. to see him and see how athletic he is players today really don't get it. But Kobe was the best. he had it all. he played like a point guard and his athletic ability was like a small forward Vince Carter.

he is the LAKER he is the best. all about Kobe 8 even the rapping.

Absolute greatness. The game will never see another Kobe. He was in my opinion the last great player in the NBA. I'm old enough to remember Kareem and Magic. Kobe is definitely their peer.
