Re: Acquiring George & Cousins
I doubt OKC takes Deng.
As for George, why not wait until summer to just sign him as a FA? We get to keep our 2020 1st round pick and either trade Randle or sign him for 3 years since he has been playing well. Deng could just sit on the bench or at home for another year and his contract will become more and more tradable.

Re: Acquiring George & Cousins
George is NOT staying with OKC so why wouldn’t they get some assets for him.
If we make this trade, our 2020 1st round pick will be in the 20s.
Randle will be gone next year as listed below. Unless we trade Clarkson, but then we would need a backup floor general. Randle is expendable as we have Kuz, Nance, Bryant, Zu and soon to be Cousins. (Provided we do this trade to clear cap space and help make recruiting easier)
I don’t wanna stretch Deng, it will painful seeing his contract on the books for even more years.

Re: Acquiring George & Cousins
OKC gets the pleasure of paying Randle and Deng? Also Randle and Steven Adams isn’t a very good shootong front court. Also I don’t want to trade Randle lol

What happens if we dont get Cousins?
We need to hold onto Randle just in case. Plus, the way PG is playing, he is definitely getting out of OKC and might give the Lakers a small break on the contract.

I think OKC would prefer KCP & Randle as they could
Slide KCP into backcourt & Randle (young player) to the bench... Nobodynis touching Deng... If OKC wants to move PG, we need to get involved to show love & get bird rights...

No reason to trade Randle.
We can make George & Cousins work without giving up Randle.

How? Randle's 12.4 million cap hit hurts the two max slots with Clarkson and Deng still on the team. I think we can move Clarkson easily without taking anything back. Deng will need to be stretched at 7.4 million, but I don't think that's worth it for the next five years.
Unless you're thinking Cousins and PG will take discounts.. which I'd say they wouldn't.
Regarding the OP, we shouldn't give anything more than KCP + Zubac for PG. Randle and Clarkson should land us late 1sts in this years draft. We'll have to find a way to move Deng, maybe attached 3 picks with Deng.

Re: Acquiring George & Cousins
You don't trade anything for Paul George and the contract he will be getting. It's ridiculous to offer anything for him at this point. Heck i don't want him on the team unless he comes at a massive discount.

no, because Randle's cap hold will keep us from signing both.
If we want to get a free agent, we should go after Cousins and hope we can create cap space the next year to get Klay somehow.
Cousins, Kuzma, Ingram, Klay, Lonzo seems tempting to me.

Nope sorry ... As much as I want both George and Cousins ... I don't want to trade for either one of them ... Let them come here via FA or not at all ...
I'm really liking this team and don't want to dismantle anyone if we don't have too, we are just one star away from being a real threat - we shouldn't be trading for any stars - - -
LET THEM COME TO US VIA FA OR NOT AT ALL.
I'd Trade Deng for peanuts but none of the bench -maybe just maybe I would trade KCP/Lopez cause they aren't in the future anyway

With another year under their belt
Kuzuma, Ball , Ingram will be great.
The question is do we need those two guys.
Maybe there are better Defensive guys or shooters we can add.

7.4 million dollars is a lot of money. That could be used for two or three ring chasers.
Not saying they have to be our picks, I’m suggesting the picks we may be able to get with Randle and Clarkson.
Just random ones
Houston 2018 via the Hawks
Wolves 2018

Re: Acquiring George & Cousins
There's no chance any team takes on Deng deal for Randle(Rfa) + 1 first pick. Despite his good play this year, he has low value as a PF, cause he cant shoot, and OKC doesnt need a backup center this bad. The teams who could use Randle can wait till FA then throw money on him.
I would try to sell Randle to Celtics for their first(so they can enhance their chances of get our pick this year). And use this first + our(2020) and try to unload Deng next FA.
But trade for George can be a good idea if we get his bird rights, I think his caphold is lower than 30M. Trade for George, stretch Deng, sign Cousins, then extend George.

Re: Acquiring George & Cousins
I've just done the numbers
As of right now:
1. We have a tick over 32 million in cap space for 2018/19, enough for a 7-9 year max FA (PG, DMC)
2. slightly under (like 350k) for a 10+ year max (lebron) if we don't use the team options/renounce Ennis, Zubac and TB (which is assured, even if we bring them back on Vet Mins after doing our FA shopping)
If we Extend/Stretch Deng, and renounce Ennis/Zu/TB:
1. we'll have a smidge under 48 mil in cap space for 2018/19
2. we will have to move Clarkson (12.5 mil) OR renounce Randle (12.45 mil) to get additional cap room. This will get us 60.5 mil in cap space, and allow us to afford PG AND DMC and keep 1 of Clarkson or Randle
3. if we want Lebron + PG/DMC, we'll have to let Clarkson AND Randle go OR get Randle to take his QO (5.56 mil) in the hope he'll believe us when we say we'll give him a huge contract in 2019/20 (super iffy)
Side Note: There is no max room in 2019 if we only sign 1 max FA unless we let Randle go. Landing Klay would then be reliant on Klay asking for max and the Warriors not giving it to him and him forcing a trade to the Lakers, which is awkward as hell because why would the warriors want to create a rival in their division

This trade accomplishes a few things:
1. It removes Deng completely from the cap (saving a minimum of 3.4 to 7.4 mil a year)
2. It actually reduces the amount George (28.95 mil) counts against the cap as opposed to his max starting salary (30.3 mil), giving us additional room to go after LeBron while keeping Clarkson
3. We can now recruit LeBron/DMC with George already on board (baby steps)
4. It removes Randle from the extension equation. Meaning if we strike out on LeBron and DMC but retain George, we can then throw the full max at Klay/2019 max FA
Long story short, if OKC are willing to take on Deng for George, you ask how high (Ball, Ingram, Kuz aside)?

After the D’Angelo Russell trade, you’d think there’d be a greater appreciation for just how toxic a contract like Deng’s is.
