Is Ko8e24 in your ALL-TIME Top 10?

hey guys, the reason i made this thread (forgive me) is to ask fellow laker fans/family. where do you actually rank kobe in the all time great list because the DISRESPECT of kobe in this site is UNBELIEVABLE and UNBEARABLE because i'm new here or is that something i should be used from seeing now on?
reading comments from posters here are i don't know if that is their hate talking or just their UNDERSTANDING of basketball.
is statistics really hurting kobes legacy? as a basketball fan, winning and determination matters to me so much, not much of a statistic guy because it doesn't tell the whole story and context especially with what kobe had to go through his entire career.
so guys, i'm asking fellow laker fans to know where kobe actually stand from a fellow laker/kobe fan point of view. Thank you in advance
I have him TOP 5 in my all time list.
btw, congratulations to him for getting his 2 jerseys retired. forever immortalized. #Ko8e24

My top 3 are set with Magic Kareem and MJ, after that it gets a little wacky... Do you put Bird above Kobe, LeBron, Russell, or Wilt? Where do you put Oscar Robinson? West?
For me, over the years, they've all moved around, but yeah... Without putting too fine a point on it... Kobe's somewhere in my top 10.

The majority of the detractors to be honest don't really know basketball, and a smaller portion are misinformed people whose team's got routinely beat by the Lakers. It urks me too but you'll never be able to reason with ignorant people.
Kobe elicits sane people to lose their minds with how unreasonable they are with their "reasoning", something I'm all too familiar with being a Patriots diehard including a shocking number of people who don't know what a catch is or isn't.
I have him easily in the top 10 but where he ranks after the GOAT (MJ) is genuinely debatable.

1) Jordan
2) Bill Russell
3) Kareem
4) Duncan
5) Bird
6) Kobe
7) Magic
8) Shaq
9) Wilt
10) Westbrook
Just my opinion and keeps changing all the time ... But at this point that's it for me still got a very good 5 players or so that are very close - Hakeem, Oscar Robertson, K.Malone etc - I might even be crazy and put Drexler/Dr J in there.
Different reasons for each player - weren't all win chips like westbrooks but just sick all round game etc

Blech. I was hoping these garbage threads would stay on the general board where it belongs.

YES! Probably number 1 on my list as Kobe is the player of my generation.
People older than me would be picking MJ and the younger ones will go for LBJ. I guess that's just the way it is. Wouldn't be surprised if kids these days see Steph Curry better than these 3.

1 Kareem / MJ <---- Coin toss. Call it heads or tails.
2 Whichever guy losses the coin toss.
3 Lebron (Surprise for some...I know)
4 Kobe / Magic / Wilt <----- Put em where you want em.
5
6
7 Shaq
8 Duncan
9 Bird / Hakeem
10
I know there are some old guys who get no love. Russell being the obvious one. Never really seen anything of him playing. Had great stats....but despite the 10 (11??) titles....his individual statistics were typically dwarfed by Wilt. 8-team league....winning 9 titles in a row has the opposite effect: It makes me question the legitimacy of the league at that time. Was there really competition?
I think Durant will prob crack that list, when all said and done. I think arguments for some guys like Pippen / Malone / Dr J couple others i missed.

1. MJ
2. Kobe
3. LeBron (he has potential to be #2)
4. Shaq (Probably undisputed #2 if he showed up to camp in shape every year)
5. *
*I'm only old enough to have witnessed MJ in his prime, and everything after. While I can appreciate a great stat line or boxscore of those who came before him. Watching the games live tells a better story and that's a privilege I didn't have.

I was unfortunate and didn't see Earvin and all those guys with my own eyes as it happened, but here's how I'd rank it.
1- MJ
2- Kareem
3- LeBron
4- Kobe
5- Earvin
6- Bird
7- Duncan
8- O'Neal
9- Russell
10- Wilt

kobe was the maybe the best bad shot taker and maker, but they were still bad shots
i think everyone is starting to forget the hair tearing moments where he would heat check when he was hot, and keep shooting even when he was dead cold

This pretty much to a tee. My top three are the same, and I don't really see anyone passing them in my lifetime as far as their complete effect on the history of the game. Winning, statistical dominance, accolades, peer review, and cultural impact all dictate that those three are as close to untouchable as it gets.
Then from there I have a scattered idea of who the next seven are, with no real desire to form any sort of rock solid ranking. But yeah, Russell, Wilt, Bird, Kobe, Bron, Duncan, and Shaq would round out the list, sort of clustered together here and there.
My personal favorite player of all time is unquestionably Kobe.

That's your opinion and yours alone

... Just because Westbrook doesn't have a chip doesn't make him a great player - It's not always just about the chips - this dude is a triple double machine and to me that's means a lot being a guy who can do it all and consistently
