ESPN Report: Lakers may be eyeing Fizdale as next coach

As much as I’ve been frustrated with Luke, this would be ridiculous.

He has to improve, no question. However, the things that I’ve been vocal about have started to change.

I don’t think the Lakers are considering this but I do believe Magic needs to come out and publicly support Walton.

This plays to my original thoughts when Magic was put in the FO. He will put HIS stamp on this team. I loved Magic the player but he's also the guy who pushed out a head coach 16 months after a championship and pretty much destroyed the team chemistry of a young team in the 90's. If anything, he's not going to be passive and he wasn't brought in to wait for development that may never come.... and I think that will most certainly include the coach. Luke was the previous regimes pick and I could easily see the FO cutting Luke loose if it helped attract the veteran stars they so desperately want.

I don't see Luke as a long term solution if we become a top 5 team. Playing the games with lineups with kids is one thing, doing it with veterans on a team with expectations is another. Game strategy and overall sophistication in his approach is lacking. That's what happens when you "jump over" the typical path to a head coach. I don't see him as a major detractor but I also don't see him as a differentiator in any way either. In truth he's not our primary problem.

She said that only when Lavar first spoke out about Luke, since then she's been on radio talking about how Luke isn't Magic and Rob's hire and how they haven't spoke out since LaVar's comments. Now Windbag want's to get involved in the story but to me it's the same narrative with ESPN all the time....always trying to conjure up something. Ramona is no different, been this way since her days at the Daily News...trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

In terms of Luke, we all know and have seen from years in sports that when a new front office comes in they'll let the guy coach who was there but eventually they're gonna bring in their guy. That's just the bottom line to it, but if Luke was bounced I don't think Fizdale has even a remote shot at the job.

Think about it, Magic is about the big time which means a big name is coming in and it's only one big name left that's decent and that's Jeff VanGundy. He's been to an NBA Finals, has coached in conference finals and most importantly his teams have always been good defensive minded teams.

A close second would be Mark Jackson because make no mistake about it, he changed that culture in Oakland...Kerr changed how they played because of the philosophies he learned from Phil and Pop playing under them. But it was Jackson who molded the mindsets of Curry and Thompson and Green. He was only fired because he didn't vibe with the owner which was his only mistake and I think he probably learned from it. But you can't tell me he wouldn't vibe with Magic, Rob and Jeanie.

And 99% of the time coaches who were fired are usually a thousand times better in that second job, because they learned the mistakes of the first one. I would be good with Luke long term going forward, he's young and needs time but vet coaches like vet players are usually the ones that win big time.

Fizdale has no chance at this job and we know it. Cool dude but our next coach if one is somehow hired has to be cut throat and ruthless...something Luke or Fizdale isn't at this moment.

This is the biggest piece of junk story that I've read in a while. "Ive got executives/agents saying that they're probably going to hire Fitzdale"? No Lakers sources...Just some supposed, random league executives. Sounds 100% like the guy knows Fitzdale, and is just trying to do him a favor by putting his name in the media. Fitzdale probably gave him scoops when Windhorst was in Miami dry cleaning Lebrons jockstrap everyday.
