I have been thinking about this a lot, and i find myself valuing Josh Hart as a 3 and D player over Kuzma's offense. If we have to trade for a star (pretend its Leonard) and the team ask "we want one of kuzma or hart added to the deal" who would you guys chose to KEEP.

Im going with Hart.

You're not going to have to make that decision, if only because nobody values Hart as much as they value Kuzma... Nobody will propose either Kuzma or Hart... They might propose Ingram or Kuzma, but Hart isn't on anyone's radar...

The other part of your question though... Would I trade Kuzma before trading Hart? Yes, if only because I'd get a lot more in return.
Again, Hart isn't that valuable, so trading him isn't going to move the needle for us a whole lot.

Would I trade Kuzma? Of course, for the right return... I'm not in the 'Kuzma's untradeable" camp or anything near it... He needs to get a lot better on D, but I can see him as a Robert Horry type player, on a good team... He also needs to figure out how to make his baskets even if he's only getting a touch every couple minutes or so... He can't be the guy that only scores in waves. Horry hit the shots given to him... Even if he only got a couple touches a game.

I like Hart... I like Kuzma... They aren't anywhere near equal value right now... Nor are they critical to our future.

Pretty much this....I wouldn't say Hart isn't valuable though....he has the equivelent value of a late first rounder, aka if we were making a trade and including a future first under the assumption that we are getting stars in return and that first would be a very late one, i could see a team wanting Hart instead of that pick....Hell, Hart is probably less valuable than the Cleveland pick but it's pretty close. That said, you're absoloutely right...no one is going to ask for either Kuzma or Hart, as they aren't even close in value. Kuz, imo, has mid first round draft value straight up, and maybe even early lottery. You aren't going to get a pick higher than the 20s for Hart straight up.

Randle's going to eat up 12-15% of the cap, maybe more. Kuzma and Hart each take up 1.4% of the cap each.

If you asked me who I'd rather have, value wise, it's Kuzma and Hart dollar for dollar. Now if we were able to get rid of Deng's 18% of the cap, I'd gladly throw both in if we got Kawhi, and kept Randle.

You have to trim the fat wherever you can, stay lean and flexible as an outfit. If you're able to delay paying luxury tax one extra year, that's an extra year in the window for a championship if you can afford the upkeep

For me Hart is a 4th guard on a truly good team. He's not a hard guy to replace IMHO.

Kuzma is a true scorer which is a much harder thing to find. His defense is much better the second half and he can play multiple positions. Unlike others, I'd not trade Kuzma until at least this point next year to see what a focused offseason can do for him. Kuzma is the prototypical PF in today's game.

That said, I'd trade anyone on this team to make it better. I'm not one to value "potential" or not trade young guys just because they are young. Getting a shot at being good for 2 or 3 years is better than putting all of your eggs in the development basket. If the right deal comes along I'd hope that our FO would trade any of them.

If you really look at the game's history not many players proved to be un-tradable.

Not even sure the point of this thread. These are the contracts + skill level guys we need to fill out a roster after handing out 2 max contracts.

Kawhi might never be the same again. Until I know he's still epic, Randle is the safe pick.

Pretty much this. Kuzma is a guy whose trade value outstrips his actual on court contribution. I'd be looking to get something for him now, before the rest of the league realizes he's overrated.

Hart can be a solid 3 and D guy. Very useful part of a winning unit. But Kuzma has potential to be more. His offensive game is more varied and as he develops he has potential to have the offense run through him.

Two very different players that fill different needs to a team.
