Long story short, the salesman and I agreed on monthly payments of $250/month (tax included) and a $1000 drive off fee. The $1000 “consists” of 500 DMV fee, 250 first month payment, and 250 just to offset the total price so I can get the $250/month for the next 35 months. Is it possible that he’s making up these numbers to compensate for the lower than avg monthly payments i’m about to pay? I live in California so if any one knows about California state laws with DMV fees being that high, that’ll be great. Thanks and I’m happy to be back on realm.

Yeah, but it couldn't hurt to help him out... Think of it this way, the sooner he gets his answer the sooner we can lock it up.

500-1000 dollars is pretty standard in a lease.

Don't know. Never leased a car. I'm in AZ so the $500 DMV fee is shocking enough. There is a reason I don't live in Cali any longer.

Yeah well, google:
https://www.dmv.ca.gov/wasapp/FeeCalculatorWeb/newResidentForm.doI got around $350 with rough numbers, so $500 is in the ball park...
Enough to lock this up.
