Rodney Hood

Lakers fans how do yall Feel about Rodney Hood? You guys are very familiar with him from playing for Utah. What I like about this is getting his value real low. I would sign him to a two year deal or four year deal. we wouldn't have to give him max money.

And he's a guy who is perfect for us. he spreads the floor. he can space the floor and he can shoot the three get inside get dunks. get to the rim. a very smooth player. it hasn't worked out really in Cleveland. but who has it worked out for in Cleveland playing with a player who takes a lot of volume shots. he's a three on a team with Lebron with JR Smith.

I think on this team he would have a very certain role. find the corner find the spot and make the three. and he's very great at the Free throw line. with a guy like Lonzo ball who is going to be drive and kick. we need shooters who can shoot with Brandon Ingram and Kuzma. he and Kuzma would be two great shooters we would have.

I like that we can still have our Core of INGRAM RANDLE KUZMA AND BALL and this is the perfect guy who gives us scoring in a ball movement system. if we don't get Lebron sign this guy bring back Isiah on a cheap deal and Lopez and we have guys who can stretch shoot three's kind of what like Boston is doing.

if it is a 3yr, 6M-8M contract that would be a good signing

He's a mediocre player. Would only offer him a 2 year (team option 2nd year) if all else fails. Assuming the price is the same, I would much rather have KCP.

it's more of a player who comes at a cheap price and is doing what the Lakers are about and trying to do Ball Movement finding players who can shoot three's where the NBA is you want players that spread the floor. Look at his Utah numbers in a good system with a great coach he's a better player. the Tyron lue isolation system sucks for players.

He's frustrated with role and how he's being coached. if you can get him to play that JJ Reddick role it's a great signing. and I think Hood is that and has been that. We're talking about Rodney Hood here who was great on Utah. Dude could fill it up.

Anytime I can acquire a great player on that salary who's coming off of that season. it's a bargain. all we are doing is bargain shopping looking for Discounts Value for a player who's a lot better then his price.

Downgrade on KCP so pass. The only upgrade at S.G. (that isn't a major signing) is looking like Evans.

Doesn't play D. Passes less thn Clarkson. Has a lower IQ than J R smith. Less athletic than current Nick Young. Pass, KCP is better

I actually would take him. Utah basically wanted him to be the man after Gordon Hayward left, and they wanted it for a reason. His on/off splits have been cancer this year and have not be great before, and he'll probably take a 1 year deal to fix whatever perceptions people gained of him from his time on the Cavs. The thing is, if this guy is available at 2/10 or 2/12, you almost just have to take it. As the league continues to transition into the whole "let's see how many 6'8 wings that can guard across all positions we can put together on the floor", a guy like Hood will be absolutely invaluable if he can add defensive intensity. Worst case scenario, you have a semi-capable ball handler in his prime that has a proven track record of 3pt shooting and knowing how to attack defenses. Even if you didn't think he's a starter, that would be exactly the type of player you want on a bench unit - someone who brings creativity on offense and can add versatility to different lineups. An event like his playoff hissy fit is exactly the type of way to get value from contracts for versatile players. Fwiw, prior to Boston, Marcus Morris was pretty much known as the more useless twin between the two who still, like his brother, would get into fights all the time for extremely petty reasons.

I personally think that if this guy had played the exact same way in Utah but averaged 20 ppg instead of just under 17, he might've gotten one or two max offers.

love the theory of Rodney Hood.....or the player we saw when healthy in Utah. An ideal utility bench wing.
