Not bad. There are worse players to spend on, worst case he is a trade asset by December in a superstar deal.

Not exactly the way I wanted to spend our precious cap space.
Also what would signing him do to Randle?

The new leadership's big splash? Hope it's part of a larger plan but in Missouri on that at the moment.

Ugh all these pitches to other free agents has me worried that we've already struck out with Lebron.

Depends on whether we are signing Lebron as well.

Re: Lakers scheduled to meet with RFA Clint Capela
Personally I think his success is largely do to the system he’s in(typical D’Antoni).
He gets many breakdown lob/passes from Paul and Harden when they attack the rim and I think if you put a similar center he would be just as successful.
I’m not sold on him and would rather go for Cousins on a one year deal.

Honestly would rather have him than George.

Re: Lakers scheduled to meet with RFA Clint Capela
Capela seems like a classic "system" star to me. Without the defenders in the middle running to cover good 3 point shooters my guess is that his shooting % drops like a rock. Combine that with the drive/finish capability of both CP3 and Harden he gets a lot of dunks there he wouldn't get here.

Nothing to see here folks. Clint is using the Lakers has leverage to obtain a max offer from the Rockets.

Not necessarily. I’m not overly interested in Capela but I never bought into the rhetoric that we would sit on our cap space for another year if we struck out.
We may be gauging other guys Lebron would be interested in playing with.

Re: Lakers scheduled to meet with RFA Clint Capela
So we’re looking at Cousins and Capela. Interesting that we’re looking at Bigs. I think we need guards and/or wings who can space the floor significantly more.

I’ll be elated if we get him and LBJ.
And as Ty said, he may be better for us than PG, if we get LBJ.
I have a feeling HOU values him more than anyone and will match anything we give him.

Re: Lakers scheduled to meet with RFA Clint Capela
I'd try to do something like
4 years 90mil, 4th year player option, all the poison pills and trade kickers i can load up. HOU likely matches, but there's still a chance for us.
If we get him then his year 1 starts at 21m. If we keep Randle on his QO (which looks likely), then we still have 35% max slot for Lebron.
C - Capela, Wagner, Zubac
PF- Kuzma, Randle, Deng
SF- Lebron
SG- Ingram, Hart
PG- Lonzo
At this point i'd try to trade Deng + 2019 FRP for a better 2 year contract player at the 1-3. I'm talking the likes of Brandon Knight, MKG, Courtney Lee, Kent Bazemore. Teams who are pretty much dead in the water cap wise and need future assets. Our pick will likely be 24ish.
Upside of trading Deng for a semi useful player is that if that player rebounds then we have a useful player on a big expiring deal we can use as our primary salary filler for trade at the deadline or 2019 FA.
Alternatively, after we secure Lebron we can then go after Kawhi with most of SAS leverage gone. Since PHI lost out on LBJ they might not be so hot to trade everything for Kawhi and BOS is def out as LBJ is now in the West so they can just rely on health and internal improvements.
Honestly we just need 1 **** major FA to sign otherwise we're so **** in any Kawhi negotiations. PG13 was supposed to be the easy domino and if Lebron keeps everyone guessing or heaven forbid chooses somewhere else, we're so ****.

I think Capela is super over-rated right now... He's Hassan Whiteside of this off season.
Never have rice at Hanzo's house...

Im gonna look at it progressively. What can he do? Knock down 3s? Cross that off the list.
Mid range game? Cross that off the list. Post up gamr? Gulp.. Cross that off the list? Shut the back door and driving lane defensively. Okay, we got something here. I would take him, but id have to watch film, if there's anything more
