I wouldn't mind seeing what Melo could do with the Lakers off the bench in a reserve role. Only real option would be getting rid of Bonga though.

Harden is officially on Kobe level (with regards to scoring, not winning). What a killer.

Yeah, no doubt. He is a cold blooded assassin and a physical beast.

But the whole “if you look at him the wrong way he goes to the line” referee BS is just total garbage. I know that Kobe got many of those calls but this is a completely different level of silk treatment from the refs. He’ll never ever get injured because no other player is allowed to even be in his vicinity let alone touch him.

Backing into other players to purposely draw a foul is not in alignment with the spirit of the game. Neither is that four step side step and bavkward move that he has perfected.

Exploiting weaknesses in the rule book like he and CP3 both do in order to win, and making it your goal to get to the line 50 times per night is the type of stuff that eventually changes the rules. I hope it’ll make Adam Silver decide that two steps is all you have no grey area. Next season, Harden’s and numbers will drop because of it.

Why? Because it’s first of all not fair to judge different players differently. And because it’s not good entertainment to watch Harden practicing FTs. Adam Silver has to protect the advertising value of the NBA.

I’d expect hand checking and body fouls to be called less frequently next season, that a bit more contact will be allowed.

Around The NBA X

Question: does it seem that the league as a whole has had more injuries than ever since the game changed to fast paced non contact three ball style?

I feel like the nba has had more superstars injured in the last five years than ever before. I could be wrong but I’m just wondering if anyone has any data to support or detract this claim?

I don't know the distance about from place to place in America, but did a google

That's only 2 hours from Los Angeles

So is that a good thing OR bad ?

Phillip Rivers still lives in San Diego. he hired a driver and naps and studies plays on his way to work in his modified escalade.
Kobe helicoptered his ass to Staples from OC.

Ya put BI & Melo at the same time. 24 second violation each time without attempting a basket.

Good thought. Not according to this, but damn looks like 13'14' were unusually awful for injuries (Kobe's achilles was 13'): https://www.kaggle.com/ghopkins/nba-injuries-2010-2018

They just don't make them the way they did back in the day :)

Back in the day people much more tougher, stronger - these days people more lazy, not into working as hard, mostly due to technology etc I recon - There are still some from this era where people work hard, but just not as many.

I see it everywhere not just in sports, even in the work place.

Money is money I'd think. We'd have to be careful who we trade to make sure we'd have the second slot open this summer. The flip side of this is that we'd end up with 3 "stars" and basically nothing else but vet minimums when we're done. A 25 year old Bron and 2 other stars that wasn't a problem.... this Bron? Who knows?

I've been an advocate for one additional key "star".... not just stars for the sake of adding stars. We need to have depth and balance and when we fill the roster with these top guys we get what's available for next to nothing to fill out the roster. Not sure that's the path we should take.

Thon Maker, anyone? Haven’t watched him since his college days but he can defend, rebound and run the break. Since we only have three/four rotation bigs...

Hmm. Is there a bigger trade to be had here?

Wagner is worth all the hype; in a year or two. Currently, he gets bumped around too easily, can’t even box out small guards after a FT without giving up position.

Chandler will prove his value in the post season, then probably retire next season.

We might need another serviceable big next season.

Thon could run the break with Lonzo and BI and Kuz for years to come. How does he look against NBA competition? Does he post up or clank threes?

A rotation of LBJ, Kuz, Maker at PF; with Zubac, Wagner, McGee at C is pretty badass.

The problem is he wants out to get more minutes.
