Why?

The rich Paul favors begin. Please no Tristan Thompson.

KCP is a solid deal.
Let’s go get Kawhi now.

I'm cool with it. Just hope he shoots the 3 as good as last season and it wasn't a fluke.

Now let’s get Avery Bradley as our backup Point, resign Randle, and resign Brook Lopez on another 1 year

In case if anyone is wondering what our cap situation is like after this signing:

^ Post LBJ + KCP signings

Lakers have like ~2 mil in cap leftover after the LBJ + KCP signings. This includes factoring in Randles 12.5m caphold, which fluctuates depending on whether he signs an offer sheet in which we can match over the cap or QO, which then clears up 7m more cap.

With KCP back, i'm guessing this means Jason Hart and Kyle Kuzma are easy throw ins for any Kawhi deal. As no way KCP is coming off the bench, which im sure his agent will make sure of, LBJ shifts to PF.

Ingram + Kuzma + Hart + S&T (or renounced to free up cap) Randle which is the ultimate homerun package for Spurs

or more likely imo, since Laker bargaining position is massively bolstered now that LBJ is in the fold

Ingram + Kuzma + Hart + Deng + FRP for Kawhi + Mills

Randle gets matched or signs for QO. No chance Randle gets a big deal in this market, high odds of QO and he'll take his chances next year.

Sign Nerlens Noel for the Room Exception, since we might as well get all the Klutch FAs on 1 team, with a promise of mega mins and lots of feeds from Lebron.

C - Noel, Wagner, Zubac
PF- LBJ, Randle
SF- Kawhi
SG- KCP
PG- Lonzo, Mills

Fill in backup wings with ring chasers.

1 year, not a big deal.

He will compliment LeBron well.

Noel is another Rich Paul guy. We treated KCP well last year even with legal issues. That paid off. I rather have Brook cheap or experiment with cousins

I think he got a whole lot more hate than he deserved... I'm glad he's back... More glad than McGee in a Lakers jersey at least.

KCP was awesome last year. Yes, a bit streaky but that guy gives 100% every night and is a joy to watch.

I didn't like him as a guy you look to for creating shots, but I'm friggin drooling at the idea of him finally getting to play with a superstar like Lebron. While I don't think he's great at shutting down people, his effort on defense is endless. His tenacity really reminds me of young Sprewell. Dude goes non-stop. Now that he'll be getting a ton of wide open looks with Lebron here, I think we'll see him raise that 3pt% up from the 38% he already shot for us.

This is a solid deal for the Lakers, hardly a Rich Paul favor. KCP is a starting level shooting guard. He can shoot, hustle, and defend. We get a rock solid guy who will elevate his play with Lebron on a team friendly deal.

His most important impact will be on D.
Specially in the playoffs on guards like Curry and Paul.
On offense, he just needs to park himself outside the 3 point line and LBJ and Lonzo will deliver him wide open shots.

Lonzo/kcp is one of the better defense back courts in the nba.
Combine with Ingram/Randle, that 4 guys who can guard lots of different positions.
USA Celtics in full effect. Amazing chemistry building experience right there for the main core of the team
