According to a person close to the situation and with knowledge of negotiations, Houston isn’t giving Mbah a Moute the money and long-term security he desires, instead offering him near the same amount as the $2.1 million veteran’s minimum deal he signed for with Houston in the 2017-18 season. The person requested anonymity because he was not authorized to comment about Mbah a Moute.

According to the person, the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Washington Wizards and Philadelphia 76ers have expressed interest, and at least two of these teams have presented offers to Mbah a Moute.

Mbah a Moute enjoyed last season and feels at home in Houston, so he is waiting to see if the Rockets will increase their offer to retain his services—but he also won’t sit and wait patiently throughout free agency.

If you don't get Melo, this is a good small ball 5. He is also someone who weakens Houston if they lose him.

Wait this title misleads. It says at least 2 of 5 teams have offered but not us specifically.

I clicked submit before the possibly. Then I fixed it 30 secs later, apologize for that. I read the article too quick before and missed the 2 teams part

I'm refreshing too fast. But yeah this signing wouldn't make too much sense to me since I feel minutes are pretty much dispersed out properly barring a trade. In a vacuum, great wing defender who can guard almost anyone.

He played small ball 5 last year too for Capella when he sat.

This would be a move that fits in with the type of team it seems the front office is assembling.

There's your perfect small ball center. Mbah a Moute also improved his 3 point shooting in recent years.

Please no more liabilities on offense, this guy has never been able to shoot the 3 ball, we need shooting and spacing!

Small as hell... Our 5 would possibly be smaller than our 4 and our 3...

So who starts... This guy or McGee?

Probably depends on how we decide to match up. McGee might get the nominal 4:30 minutes to start the game but end up playing < 10 mins overall with Mo/Kuz/Mbah a Moute and LeBron splitting time at the 4/5.

He shot 36% from three on 3 attempts per night in the regular season. He separated his shoulder to end the year and shot bad, but he shot the 3 ball well all year off CP3 and Harden. He also found his niche along with Tucker as a small 4/5.

Bad news: Looks like we struck out on the LMM sweepstakes

Good news: All but confirms that Melo is going to the Rockets.
