Curious to see if Zubac makes it. I like the kid. I thought he had some really good footwork, and a nice touch down low.

I know they have gone away from that style in the NBA....but perhaps there's value in his now rare skillset? The Lakers are keeping him around. I hope he earns some good minutes this year.

Hopefully we keep him for cheap next season. He just needs to build up some more explosion (less weight more leg strength), confidence, and ability to reliably hit an open mid range J. i think that'll be enough for him to carve out a nice long career as a backup C.

I agree with the two posts above. Plus, he’s a comedic genius. For real. I’m sure he’s loved by the organization. Truly a good guy to be around, it seems.

I still believe he can kill, but it’s gotta become evident this season for me to keep that faith. He has all the talents needed. Good hands, good handles, good court vision and feel for the game. He looks like he’s ready to run the floor. One question I hope to see answered this season:

Can he get a bit pissed and develop an aggressive mean streak on defense?

I think if he does, he’ll get rewarded on the other end. I hope LeBron and Rondo get after all the guys, especially Zu, to play defense. LBJ is a very smart and vocal defender.

Go Zubacca!

I think he can play well off of Bron. Look what he did for Sideshow Bob. He's got an innate feel for the game that is not there with a lot of young guys. He needs to be in a certain position to succeed and I think Bron will help quite a bit.

He slimmed down last year too, but looked like trash on the court. Need to see it translate to actual games.

Yeah, what I remember from last year's summer league was that he lost a lot of weight and looked really weak on the court. He couldn't be as physical on the court and he couldn't finish at the rim with contact, rebound, or post-up as well as he did beforehand.

I'm rooting for the entire team.... but it would be great if he gets the chance to see if he can make it in a decidedly stacked league that is against everything that he does well.....

Just give him some solid minutes. The guy only got to play like 50 games his rookie season, and it was really only 25 or so games where he had anything considered "real minutes". If he fails, he fails. It's season 3 for him. Time to show growth. Time to prove your worth it. But you gotta give the guy some time to get things going. Not just throw him out for 7-8 minutes every other game. That's unfair.

Unfortunately for him....we're not in "youth mode" so much now. Prob won't be much time for him to 'figure it out'.

I like the kid. It would be great for the everyone Lakers if he had a break-out year, and turned into something good. I remember Bynum did it...so it's possible.

He's definitely thinner this go around, he's ready. Now he has to compete in camp and take the minutes that people assume will go to Mo. Zub is better than Mo his experience should dictate that he's better, up to him to show it.

I think the FO spoke fairly clearly when they let Bryant go and re-uped Zu. That was a choice by someone. I think Bron's presence could be very good for him. He plays well off the ball and has very good hands. He shoots well facing up as well. He's not going to jam it over people but he's got the potential to be a capable P&R guy on offense off Bron. Defensively he's decent and seems to understand the schemes.

I’m rooting for him more than any other Laker.

I just wanna see him average 22-25 mins per game and 10-8 with a block in his name. That'd be success for me in few years. This year I am betting more on a 17-18 mins per game and 7ppg-5rpg.
