The difference between Randle and him is that Nance is good at something, an entertaining act to watch, has less ego, and his agent isn't stupid. Randle had no market not because money was not there but because he had no elite skill set, no marketability, no accolades, no stats, and nothing of substance to back him. Nance may start in Cleveland or be the sixth man, whereas Radnle isn't even endining games or starting over Mirotic and AD
Nance is trash, average at best. He had every opportunity to take the next step and take Randle's minutes. But, he is fine being mediocre. Randle is the better player. It was just a bad time/situation to be a free agent. What is Nancy good at? Setting picks? Playing decent defense? There is a reason Randle started/finished games and Nance was on the bench. Nance can't create his own shot and primarily relies on lobs. He is extremely limited offensively besides the pick and roll. Randle improved his defense and offense. The difference between the two is their motor. Randle wants to get better, Nance is fine being average. Again, he had every opportunity to take Randle's spot, but he couldn't.
Nance gets overrated too much for an average bench player because adv stats make him look better than he actually is, and occasionally, he will get a fancy dunk. I've watched his whole tenure as a Laker. He is nowhere near Dray or AD as defenders. If he did, he would have been starting ahead of Randle.
