What to do with Ivica Zubac

I mean after that Phoenix game, i'm speechless. His rookie season, he showed so much promise. I thought he would be another one of the solid european bigs that have come along (maybe not a superstar but a solid starter for us in the long term). Now though, he just seems completely unmotivated and lost.

he showed promise, because they didn't have a scouting report on him
now, they know what his weakness is, they mercilessly exploit it

Cut his ass, an NBA roster spot next to LeBron James is too valuable a commodity to be wasting on someone not motivated enough.

Yeah. Trade or waive him. ASAP.
I'd rather have the corpse of Joakim Noah than him.

package him with KCP for a real backup center

Google Kristina Prisc. My game would be soft as well if I was banging that ass.
And some guys settle for the Kardashian cow. I can't understand how this world works.

Got damn... How!?!?!?
Stupid question, right... But still... Damn...
That said, can't really cut Zubac... We don't have enough Cs for that...
Can't trade him... He's worth less than his girlfriend on the trade market.
The thing with Zubac is, he's shown he can play at a pretty high level in certain situations... I think the pace is killing him, honestly. But our offense should be 'smart' enough to know how to slow it down and grind it out when it needs too... And in those situations, Zu might be a decent backup.
In all honesty, I think we need a STARTING C... I think McGee is good for limited minutes but then he seems to get tired and starts making those plays he became infamous for...
Our whole bigs rotation is trash right now.

Not much we can do. He's probably on his way out the league anyways tbh. He's got zero trade value. Could be packaged as filler but no one is taking him straight up for anything of value. The pace is too fast for him. Sad to watch, but we just gotta watch him ride out his last year here.

I do think that he tends to play much better when he's up against better talent early in games, but yeah he's been bad enough to think about cutting. When our 6'8" off the street cut-bait signing gets most of the min over him, it's apparent.
I would think about Noah. I would not make trades for a center, though, because:
1- I don't think there is a quality center on the market for cheap trade
2- Those assets going out could be impactful if we end up seeing the Blazers get ugly and want Dame this year or even as we leverage toward AD next year.

I remain perplexed as to why we picked up his option. It was clear Luke had little to no interest in playing him.

He should have been cut at the beginning of last year.

Probably because it was cheap. 1.5m. I'm surprised we let Thomas Bryant go though. Feels like he would've been a much better fit on this team.
Zubac really is a victim of the system. His game does not fit this system at all. All we can do is HOPE he can pull together a few good games this season. Right now he just represents 6 fouls off the bench.

hes one of those frustrating players that plays good when there's like 20 some odd games left in the season, and we get baited into signing him for another year, and then same **** all over again next season.

He’ll finish the year riding the bench and we’ll never hear from him again once his contract expires. He’ll be in Europe this time next year.

I was one of the biggest Zub fans out there, but I think it's clear he doesn't fit here, and he's not good enough to warrant adjusting to his game. It's best for both sides if we ship him somewhere.
It's a bummer, but I think enough is enough. We really need some size though. Good thing we let Randle and Lopez walk.

He's always out of shape. Always gets winded.. Remember this dumb thread?
viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1740962Zubac only "looks" in shape here because he's next to a a damn coach.
Mind you Luke's in fantastic shape compared to normal people, but for NBA standards? Nope.

For the love of god, just cut the guy already. This team is starved for front court depth, and he's proven to be absolutely useless.
