Superstar\s next to LeBron

Post#2 » by myersia » Mon Nov 26, 2018 11:38 pm

I think Klay Thompson is the best fit we can get. Idk how Durant would be next to bron but of course I’d try it. AD is a beast but super injury prone.

I think we need a player that can get his whenever he wants, in a deliberate and methodical manner. At the moment we're in need of a true closer.

Next to Lonzo and LBJ, whomever we’re adding will have to be efficient off the ball.

At SG, Klay is the best off the ball 3&D catch and shoot player in the league. Period. So,

PG: Lonzo
SG: Klay
PF: LBJ

... are a lock for me. Klay should be priority number one next summer.

I’d like to keep some veterans around next season, like Rondo, and Chandler or McGee. If we can do that AND still sign Leonard or Durant, we should without doubt go after one of them next.

PG: Lonzo
SG: Klay
SF: Kawhi or Durant
PF: LBJ
C: Chandler or McGee

Again, I know that Ingram is 21 and a unicorn who will probably be a nightmare opponent for the league over the next decade. But his game doesn’t fit as well next to LBJ as Kuzma’s does. There will not be minutes enough for both. Ingram needs isolations to be himself, which is opposite Luke’s style.

So I say trade BI with KCP and Zubac by the deadline but for that we need a big name C in return.

A center who, like Klay and Leonard, and perhaps unlike Durant, has the mental make-up either not to need the main spotlight or not be afraid of taking it from LBJ. I’m not sure how much fun LBJ and KD could have together. Perhaps lots. Perhaps not.

I hope we are looking at building a cohesive team over just collecting "SuperStars". Many teams have done this tried this and it's blown up in their faces. On paper Harden and CP3 should add to one another but somehow they aren't.

Bron needs perimeter players to compliment his game. He worked well with Bosh as a mobile center as well. Davis is an obvious choice but my guess is that he'd do better with a guy like Vucevic and add someone like Thompson over adding Davis who would directly compete for alpha status and require touches every night. Vucevic and Thompson are All Star caliber players but neither is going to compete for team leadership. This more important than having an assembly of the top guys IMHO.

If Magic signs KL or Klay, I think all the young guys stay put. Even if he doesn't get another star, I don't know if he would trade the young guys for a star next season just yet. It would depend on how successful the Lakers are this season.

Only other notable free agent would be Kemba. Kyrie Irving too but unlikely he'll ever play with bron again. IT and and D'Angelo will also be available. :D

KL and/or Klay for me. I wouldn't want to trade any of the young guys.

You'd have to consider KD if he's willing, just not sure about the fit. KD/Bron could be the next Harden/CP3.

Remember, the guy we get is potentially THE guy after Lebron.

Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis, in this particular order.

Can't be serious.

Kawhi's, KD's and AD's talent levels make it a no brainer. Grab the MVP caliber player and worry about the rest later. Klay is too one dimensional to be trusted as a second option.

75 games each in the last two seasons. Kawhi is the real injury prone player in this crop.

No DMC, please.

Yeah, if we’re going for the player to inherit the role of franchise player after LBJ, we should go with KD. If they get along on the court, they’d be a deadly two man punch.

If we want co-stars who don’t need spotlights for their egos, and play lockdown defense, Klay should be a lock.
