How Good Are The Lakers In 2018-2019

The Lakers have made some improvements LeBron, McGee and Tyson Chandler but how much more have they improved. The young core has not made a significant impact at this time. The veterans are a mix of injuries mediocrity at best playing history that began years ago and with a reputation of bygones. Where are these Lakers going? My answer is I do not know but wait and see. Majic, Rob, Jeanne and Luke please pull a rabbit out of the hat and wave your magic wand to fix this team.

At this rate we are playoff bound. Young core hasn't made a significant impact yet because they need to adjust to the addition of Bron. They are now playing a different role than last season. Be a little more patient because once they are fully adjusted everything will be possible. Our vets will be a good mentor at the very least to our young core. Rondo is perfect for Lonzo as they basically have the same skill set.

Depends if Magic can get a second star or not.

I think the roster is actually better than the current record. The transition of having to find a new identity and get accustomed to each other has cost them a few games early on (as expected).

A lot of regular season success depends on scheduling and luck. They've run into a few teams that were overachieving (San An, Orlando, Minny) and had some scheduling hurdles (couple early Sunday games). Tonight they're going up against a San An team that's on the second night of a back-to-back, but rested and hungry to win after being blown out by Utah. Combine that with the fact that Aldridge is a huge matchup problem for this team, and you turn a theoretically easy win into a toss-up. Frustrating, but part of the regular season. Then they have to go to San An and play them again (4th time in 2 months).

I think these things even out over the span of 82 games. If they continue to improve, come playoffs the rest of the team will feed off of "playoff Bron" and overachieve. Ideally, come playoffs, you'd want GS and OKC playing each other in the 2nd round. Lebron is still a dominant force in the playoffs, and an inexperienced Denver or Portland/Houston/NOP/etc. have no chance in a 7 games series against him.

Who cares? Magic (with a "g") has always maintained that it's a two-summer plan. Summer #2 is coming up in a few months and there's a $38.2 million dollar cap spot waiting for you-know-who to walk into.

Anti-Laker fans who want to focus on Beasley, Lance and Rondo have their heads in the sand. Summer #2 is almost here and there's not a goddamn thing they can do about it.
