I would rather say no....and have Lebron demand a trade, than sign Carmelo.

I wouldn't mind seeing what Anthony could do if Beasley or Stephenson got hurt.

Lol, we had a open roster spot and we still didn't use it on him before picking up Chandler

Me too, at this point we have nothing to lose. Just do it and let's see if Bron can revive Anthony's game.

We have nothing to lose. He can’t ruin our team. I’m sure it won’t help but whatever at this point

A fattening ball hog chucker black hole isolation no defense man-baby diva like Melo wouldn’t help us.
The basketball gods are smiling at us again. Thanks, Pelagic for not signing Melo!!!

The open roster spot only matters up until the point Melo signed with the Rockets. Since then he hasn’t been a free agent and still isn’t, so can’t really evaluate if the Lakers’ desire to sign him has changed since the summer.

"If a roster spot opens up" is code for "If we trade for AD, KL or maybe Kyrie"... Possibly Marc Gasol...
But it's essentially, "If our pipe dream comes true, maybe we'll sign Carmelo as a warm body to fill the holes."
So at the end of the day, "If a roster spot opens up" would be such an awesome thing for the Lakers, who gives a **** if we sign Melo... We'll all be so erect, we won't even notice...

Until Lebum passes to him for the last shot and loses the game

Exactly, he was available in the summer, and we very clearly said no then

We passed on Cousins too but we can't put it past LA to say damn he would have been nice.

I'd take that tbh, give me that Kawhi-A.D superduo.

I'd even take AD or Giannis straight up.

Unless we make a trade...this doesn't make sense. Assuming we have learned from our small experiment, we have 144 minutes for the 2/3/4 spots
Kuz and Lebron on average take 68 of those minutes......
B.I/Hart/KCP are averaging around 80 minutes combined....taking us over that 144 minute total. This isn't including the minutes SVI/Beasley/Lance play in those spots.
Of course, injuries have lead to some of those numbers being higher than they would in a "perfect" world.....but realistically, Lebron/Kuz/B.I/Hart/KCP, if all healthy, should always play ahead of someone like Melo, and even with more modest minute estimation, I can't see them playing less that:
Lebron (32) Kuz (32) B.I (30) Hart (24) KCP (20). That's already 138 minutes!!! without Lance/Beasley/Svi included. We simply don't have any minutes to play Melo. His bagage/ chemistry problems/ fit issues aside, Melo brings nothing to the table for this team. Even if he's on his best behavior and willing to take a lesser role, he still shouldn't/wouldn't see the floor barring injuries.
Seems like a big risk to the locker room, with little-no reward even in the best case.

Are you penciling in Ball being out for a longer time and Lance as his backup pg replacement full time? Or that kcp would be the one traded in most deals? They could find mind

Yup.... as constructed Melo would take minutes away from Bron, Ingram and/or Kuzma. Then again.... Luke seems to like Ingram at PG for some reason.... so maybe he thinks that could work for some reason. Melo doesn't seem to be the guy to come in and help the young guys.... more like the guy to try and have a bro-team with Bron at the expense of the young guys.
