Free Agency - Kristaps Porzingis

I have read multiple posts about what and who we should target... Feel free to shift to another thread but what about targeting KP in Free Agency... New York may not extend a Qualifying Offer as they want to chase big dawgs & kid has skills... Even as a RFA, we could still land him with a solid offer, probably not even a max would get it done...
KP dropped 22.7 PPG, 6.7 RPG & 2.4 BPG last season & is a 7’1” PF/C with range... He fills a couple critical needs such as 3 point shooting, rebounding, paint protection & adds more length & versatility plus could grow with the young guns & is a bonafide gym rat getting to the gym first and leaving last... Our starting lineup would be as follows:
PG: Ball (6’6”)
SG: Hart (6’5”)
SF: LBJ (6’8”)
PF: Kuzz (6’9”)
C: KP (7’1”)
Our spacing, length, versatility and skill sets would give us allot of options and create issues for other squads... We would also be able to keep our depth and young guns...

Ain't no way Lakers are entering RFA bidding unless they fail with all other targets.

no way NY lets him go. Theyll happily match any offer for him if they dont flat out offer him the max day one of free agency

Lol what, they'd sooner drop their lottery pick (or two future FRPs) to shave THJ and Lee than to make Porz a UFA

Two things:
1. We would go after bigger FAs first before KP.
2. NY would probably just match any offer for KP.
Having said that, I still love KP if we somehow end up with him next season.

The Knicks aren't allowing Porzingis to go anywhere. That's ridiculous.

If there is no. Wait for it ....
AD Trade.
KLay, KL, KD FA signings
I think we'll go after Cousins
I know y'all dislike him, but even after his injury he'll come on the cheap and short 2-3 year deal with last year team option would be ideal - he'll still produce 20/8/5 IMO sure his nuts or what other excuses y'all want to make - "IF we don't get the above trade/FA then Cousins would be Ideal
I just hope we don't wait until last minute to sign anyone - that's been a big problem in the past
Need those signings/trades early as possible not last second

Hard pass, I don't think he will ever be the same player again.

I think Cousins is a great backup plan, depending upon his recovery... I ruptured my Achilles playing hoops and came back... I know it’s not the NBA but Cousins wasn’t a high fly act...
We need talent & Cousins is a top 5 center when healthy... LBJ will keep him focused... I was surprised we didn’t offer him $10 million this offseason... A healthy Cousins on a discount with his homeboy Wall would be interesting... Kemba Walker could be another target boys...

If the Knicks decided they didn't want to max him, sure. I'd rather perhaps tempt fate and see if we can trade Kuzma for him.

I just can't see KP being let go by the Knicks. He's a superb young talent (although I think the knee hurts what he could have been at his peak), and really NY should be looking to pair an elite guard/small forward with him rather than looking to replace him with two older talents. There's no way he's not maxed out by them, despite the knee

After the game today I don't think I'm trading Kuz for KP. I like KP but his durability will be my main concern if I'm trading Kuz for him. Having said that I think I'll just try having KP through FA.

The Knicks want established superstars & feel they have the inside track on KD, who wants to be the man in a big city... KD has talked about the Knicks on multiple occasions...
I think it is low probability but it wouldn’t surprise me if the Knicks don’t match a max contract for KP at this point... I would send them Ingram before Kuzz...
What about Butler... He will opt out & would be an ideal SG & great backcourt mate for Ball... Ball (6’6”), Butler (6’7”), LBJ (6’8”), Kuzz (6’9”) & McGee (7’0”)... Damn that would be fun...

No to Butler, too many risks involved with signing him considering how he's left his Bulls and T-Wolves teams. He might well ruin Ingram and Ball

Would love to get a guy like KP who probably fits as well as anyone else we might be able to target.
The problem is that there isn't any realistic chance that NY wont match the max offer he is likely to get. For that to happen KP would have to want out and/or threaten to take the QO. Given his recent injuries i think him taking the QO is a long shot.
The one chance we do have at getting a guy like KP be if both KP wants out and NY are unsure about his long term health and are planning to sign two max level players next summer. If that's the case they could try to move KP at the deadline this season and get some future assets and save some money in the summer. Theoretically, LA could swing a deal for KP now and still be in position to offer Kawhi a max deal, which would be pretty awesome (Ball - Hart - Kawhi - Lebron - KP).
But i doubt it.

Makes sense... I am done with the AD drama... All of the Lakers biggest trades happen before they are public like Pau & Nash... Once the world knows, it isn’t happening...
