Well considering his other choice was Josh Jackson, this comes out as a massive wash.

Only one player was off the board. Not that I buy this story, but our options were virtually limitless.

La was debating between Jackson and Ball. Yes the choices were limitless but they clearly didnt view it that way.

Yeah, honestly, this makes no sense to me either... Magic was at the height of his influence then... He was calling his own shots and certainly wasn't listening to "The Buss Family..." The only Buss he would have picked up the phone for was Jeannie, and I get no sense she was all into College Player Scouting...

What makes a whole lot more sense to me is that Lavar got in Magic's ear and the two hit it off, and Lavar ultimately convinced Magic that Lonzo was the right choice... Remember their trip to his house?

I'm on the fake news side of this too...

But what it does sort of tell me is that we need to be exploring moves for Ball outside of the AD thing in case he's gone full-Odom over this potential trade...

SAS has a massive vendetta against the Buss family especially Jim. I wouldnt be surprised if he tried to blame Jim for Lonzo being drafted.

Which is a huge reason we are where we are. Four high lottery picks, and we didn’t take the best player available with any of them.

pretty sure that is SAS on a bullcrap rant. Of freaking course Magic wanted Lonzo... even if it did have to do with revenue partly, I'm sure he was onboard to get the genius passer.

Dude Mitchell slid for days and was a draft steal, he was never a consideration. We'd be destroying Fox too, and we didn't end up with Markelle so shout halleluja! hahah

It's SAS putting it out there. For all we know he made it up off the top of his head. He routinely says outlandish things because it's entertaining and it sells. He's built his whole career doing that.

Fox was the player I thought Magic might be smart enough to pick over Ball and Jackson.. He was not.

Lot of land mines in that draft. Lonzo was a fine pick.

Only players I’d take over Ball are Tatum and Mitchell. I don’t particularly find Fox to be a more promising prospect than Ball.

Besides his injuries, Lonzo has been the most promising 2nd pick to me. His impact watching the games he plays is much bigger than Russell and Ingram while they were in their 2nd years. I understand the criticism he gets, but his biggest flaw right now is free throw shooting. When given the opportunity to run the team for the most part he hasn’t disappointed
