This kinda scares me. Magic is from the old school so he might not handle this the right way in my opinion. Kinda like Byron Scott recently admitted to having to be softer on guys if he ever coach again.

Let me steal that spotlight and good feeling y'all had after beating Boston on national tv by me making headlines publicly to say I'm going to fly out and address all yall I tried to trade.

He cold have did it quietly without anyone knowing but he wanted to be the headline and cloud looming over their heads

But why? And if that is the case, why leak it? At some point they have to make a better effort of keeping internal matters internal. Like good grief.

Magic is the same guy who was VP of the LAkers and went on TNT and said Kobe/Shaq/Phil need to learn to keep internal matters internal, and then would talk about them every week ... He's a hypocrite and attention whore in that regard

This is the right thing to do as long as he doesn't F it up.
Lots of young guys on this team who will feel unwanted. And some veterans too.
Not so worried about the vets. We saw Rondo, Lance, and even McGee kick some ass last night in Boston, and at least 2 of them were supposedly part of the package.
But the young guns need to be reassured, and it has to be genuine because they're not stupid, and they can see through superficial crap.

I'm also hoping for Rondo to be a vocal leader on this issue. He has really impressed me with his leadership. He's constantly talking in timeouts and on the court.
He is truly a player-coach out there.

I actually believe that Rondo is more credible in the eyes of the kids on the team than Magic is.

Funny... I see this as an overly-public, likely empty gesture, more about covering his ass in the public eye, and less about the feelings of the players... But that's just me....

Why not just do it and let it leak that he's done it afterword? This isn't about the guys in the locker room.

Magic thinks he can convince anyone about anything... I hope he's right.

Or.... about the time he got a coach fired and nearly got Kareem traded. Or about the time he destroyed the confidence of another young Laker team.... he does have relevant experience.

Nothing Magic can do to smooth this over. Team knows their Dead Men Walking. Magic covering his own ass. This summer is going to be depressing for us. Not all great players make great executives.

Lakers landed the best player in the league. Played prime-time against the Warriors on Christmas day. Good chance to show the world what you got eh? Magic's done his job well. To both his players, and the organization.

Give the players a box of tissues....and tell em' to quit crying. Most other GM's would pushed the chips all in for AD as well. There was a little desperation on our timeline.....I think things coulda been handled a bit better, and the leaks are frustrating.

I'll take going all in for AD over signing CP3 to the Max (Huge mistake by Houston) or Giving Connley the max. Or giving Carmelo the max. I'll take that any day.

If I were Magic, I'd tell the young guys to play better....make their FT's as a start...and maybe it won't take the whole bunch of them to get a deal done. "You wanna be a Laker??? Make your F&** free-throws!"

I hate that Magic has to do this crap. Yes, it's important to the young guys, but I feel the real person that should be consulting the team is LeBron. So far, he's been so distant with the young guys. In this particular situation, I'm really glad we have a guy like Rajon Rondo to lean on. He's been such a excellent example towards the young guys. Block out the negative narrative around this team, and kick some ass. I hope Rondo plays his career out with us, he's such a important piece to any championship squad.

To be clear: We could have handled last week a LOT better. But he's 100 percent correct on that front. If dudes are going to get pouty and tune out because they were included in a trade offer for a top five player, they're going to have a tough time in this league. Suck it up.

I get what you are saying but

Magic tore the locker room apart in the 90s with van Exel and eddie, so much so they all wanted him gone like Wizards MJ.

He quit as Lakers VP when they had down years after trading Shaq

He quit as a talk show host

He quit as a coach after one of the worse starts ever.

He also quit TNT outright after getting criticism.

And the Dodgers have not won ****.

He couldn’t get a meeting with Paul George. He made headlines for disrespecting Luke. He got the team fined twice for tampering. He let all the leaks happened. And after the meeting today that was supposed to make things better but told the media that he New Orleans didn’t act in good faith when trying to trade everyone that he was supposed to be addressing. He essentially took a good mood they built from a team practice and win in Boston and made it about Magic like he does everything else he touches. But the thing is when he touches basketball outside showtime it usually goes bad
